Scrapped Princess

It might be called something else in the US; its about a princess who on the 16th birthday will destroy the world according to prophesy, so shes on the run with her siblings.

Has anyone seen this? I was wondering if its suitable for my younger sister and enjoyable?

I have the first DVD, and it was very enjoyable. How old is your sister? There's magic, as it is a fantasy-oriented anime, but it also takes places in a completely fictional world which can make a big difference :-) It's rated 13+, and thus far, there's been nothing horrid to speak of: there's violence (sword-play mainly) but it is not bloody; however the story in general, even in the first disc, got intense at some parts that may or may not be a little edgy for her depending on how young she is. It's what I call a very well balanced anime so far, as it has some good action, pleasant characters, comedy, and probably some romance down the line. I'd definitely recommend it; you're the one that know your sis best (obviously) between the two of us, but I hope I was somewhat helpful in that particular area :-)

There is a review of Scrapped Princess in the reviews section that should cover anything you may have questions about: http://www.christiananime.net/reviews.php?display=59

I wonder if MyrrhLynn is a fan ;)

There's quite a bit of sarcasm in the show as well and human life is not valued as much as it should be. I don't think either of these is a problem in general, but I think these elements make the 13+ rating very justified.

I loved this show; it's quite the entertaining series, and definately quite original in terms of design--definately got a celtic flare I don't see very often. I think 13+ is a good rating.

Many of the characters are also named after guns - there's a list in a thread called "The Guns of Scrapped Princess" or something like that.

:P (for those of you that are wondering what termyt is talking about, my avatar is Raquel one of the main characters in scrapped princess)

Anyway yeah I guess I never actually said my opinion. Scrapped Princess is one of my favorite animes ever, but I think a 13+ age rating is appropriate. I've only seen the sub though, so depending on how they choose to translate it could make a difference as well.

Thanks guys.

My sister is around 17, and she liked Escaflowne so this should be down her lane, I just wanted to check to see if there wasn't any major magic/occult stuff, admittedly Escaflowne has alot, so if its less then that then there is no problems. Cheers again.

There is some magic spells, and they do talk about the "gods"--Mauser and a female one I can't remember. So there IS some religious stuff in there, but certainly not worse than Escaflowne (I've seen both).

Plus there is a HUGE plot twist at the end of the series that will sort of show that Mauser and Browning aren't gods at all. (I remeber I was like "Holy crap! That's what happened?!?" O_O :wow!:
