Yeah, I was pretty excited when I read about this stuff yesterday. I love my iPod (big one, 4th gen., click wheel), but seeing them constantly innovate with new models makes me almost look forward to when my current iPod kicks the bucket. But I hope it makes it for a really long time, of course!

Anyone like the new look to iTunes, though? I'm still getting used to it.

The new look is ok - I don't mind it much because I've been using a widget remote for it, so I always keep it hidden after I choose the library I want. And the nano is just stinking cute!

I must be the only Mac regular user who didn't like iTunes before and still doesn't.

Well, I'm not a regular Mac user, but I detest iTunes for anything but updating my iPod. >.< It's too clunky compared to Winamp and it takes over everything and it was an uneeded hassle setting my defaults back to WMP or Winamp.

The new iPod looks pretty nice, though. 8D Shiny. <3

I think WMP is more betterer for me.

MSP: A regular iPod will also stop working quicker. The mini/nano are all flash ram, and have no moving parts. If you do a lot of jogging, or whatever, you'll see the sad iPod face quicker on the other one. Something else to keep in mind: the more flash ram drives that sell, the faster they'll come down in price. That means were close to eleminating magnetic media all together!

i am happy with my zen touch, the nano is cool looking, but too expensive for way to little GB, the new itunes is ok, the only reason i use itunes is to organize my music (consolidate), i use winamp to listen, i read that the phone itunes got bad reviews

Of course whatever the version, the iPod is grossly overpriced, and the trouble I had trying to download iTunes 5 (which Apple made mandatory to continue to buy stuff from iTunes) last night was something else... THREE times the download was corrupted.

Oh well, at least there is jHymn program that allows me to convert my iTunes songs into excellent mp3 files...

(Personally, I use a Rocbox, which is much better... and it doesn't cost you $60 to change the batteries ;) )

Actually, I think the Nano is priced just about right. My Sony Net MD MZ-N510 was about $250 when I got it two and a half years ago. In Canada, the Nano is $300 for the 4 GB version, which is in my price range.

So exercising with an iPod is bad. Hmm... So I shouldn't exercise at all, right? ;)

Well, the original iPod averaged to about $12-15/gb when you divided price by size. The Nano by that standard costs $75/gb.

The reason I never got a mini was it was only about $50 less than the full size iPod.

As for the Nano using Flash, I hope it works better than that iPod Shuffle, which was a piece of junk. :mutter:

Um I'm going to need a definition on exercise. Does that inlcuding something as relaxed as strolling, or is it more jarring like Jogging. Of course there's always horseback riding to consider and of course skydiving?

I took my standard iPod (20 gigs)with me scuba diving down to the bottom of the Marianas Trench and it worked just fine. You'd think that being 36,192 feet under WATER would really slow it down, but what I can say. Oh yeah, APPLES RULE!!!

although it is flash memory... wouldn't that mean it has less amount of times it could rewrite? Or is it more? or the same? Eventually both flash and magnetic mediums will die out... so the question is:

Which one will die out faster?

my Ipod is in his second stage of living now... (i had it for about a year and I myself replaced the ipod battery... twas a difficult task but I was sucessful) and we will see how long till it dies a glorious death (it will probably die after I die )

Eventually?

By that logic, eventually the sun will die out... so we probably shouldn't invest in solar or wind energy either, should we?
