I haven't read the CCS Manga. I wil consider it, I have so many manga issues waiting to be read, though ,so it could take a while either way.

To answer some questions:
Tsubasa Chronicle's studio (Bee Train) and music (Kajiura Yuki) are done by the same folks who did .hack.

I haven't read the manga. In fact the only CLAMP manga I've ever read is Wish, and it's only scans... (stupid fans...) I'm kinda planning on that partly because it's short. There's like 5 manga I want to get. It's horrible.

Thanks for the additional birthday wishes, all! *shares leftover chocolate cake with chocolate frosting*

I've finished Tsubasa 6, and am now eagerly awaiting the next volume...

I'm with you, Sparrowhawk, I can't wait for the Tsubasa anime. Arrgh, it's not licensed yet?! :bang:

The CCS manga is great. It's one of the few mangas I've seen that I like better than the anime (I usually lean toward anime, but thr CCS manga is so beautifully drawn).

Good question, Sparrowhawk. With limited funds I'd lean toward manga. I have not seen the X and Chobits animes (well, I think a bit of Chobits but not much), though, so it's tough to comment.

Okay, the moment you've all been waiting for! (Well, maybe not, but hopefully you'll enjoy it!) The return of the Sakura/CLAMP Fan Club Trivia Contest!!!

Spirit_Wolf helped me with the questions, as she is an expert on the topic for the month. She even did three questions, I only did two. Thanks Spirit_Wolf!!!

Without further ado...

Sakura/CLAMP Fan Club Trivia Contest for September: Fire

1. What is the first spell Hikaru uses in the MKR manga?
2. What level is Syaoron's kudan in TRC?
3. The Firey is which number out of the four elements that Sakura captures?
4. What card does Sakura catch in the TV episode “Sakura’s Dizzy Fever Day”?
5. What does Hikaru's full name translate to in MKR?

This contest may be a bit tougher than most past contests, hopefully it challenges everyone a bit! As always, good luck and ganbatte!!! :jump:

PM me with your answers by Sept. 30. Also, anyone who wants to volunteer to do the challenge questions for the Sakura Card Masters please PM me and let me know. Thanks!!!

And the prize for this month...hmmm...I may institute a different prize than the cards. Are we able to display the cards in our sigs yet? If not maybe a different prize would be better. Spirit_Wolf and I will talk... ^___^

WARNING: my post following may contain spoilers...okay...don't say I didn't warn you...

Rocketshipper wrote:That's kind of harsh. They only had 90 minutes to tell the entire story, so they had to speed through things a little. What about the music and the awesome animation? *drools over the animation* It came out in 1996, and the animation still kicks butt against most anime movies out there. The movie did at least keep closer to the trippyness of the manga (love those dream seqences) and wasn't edited for TV, so they could get away with blowing up a building or too.

I understand that they had to try and cram it into a movie-length, not any easy task by any means, but they should've waited longer to make the movie IMO. The series was absolutely beautiful in virtually every aspect imaginable, the movie just didn't compare for me, maybe I have been spoiled by the TV series. I like the concept of Kamui having to face the hard choice of sacrificing everything he had and loved in order to save the world, but I felt it's impact would have been alot more moving and complete if they had gone about it differently. Another thing that seemed odd to me was that they have Kotori shown in a vision of sorts tied to the cross (like in the series), but then she ends up dying by making the other divine sword, so it felt like that rendered the original bit totally without purpose. I honestly thought that the series topped it even in animation and music, I enjoyed the music all-around for the series so much that I felt the movie was (in comparison) lacking, and something about the animation reminded me of Akira at times, which was a movie I didn't like, and it felt like it carried the same dark jyaki around it to me (so to speak) (religiously). I couldn't make much sense of why Fuma was killing all of the other dragons of earth other than that maybe he felt he should stand alone or be the ultimate lone survivor or something like that, I don't recall an explaination being made. It seemed mostly like they were looking for a way to finish off all of the characters within that 90 minute time limit and couldn't fit anything better in it due to that. I must seem like I am overdramatic or harsh or something, and I am honestly very sorry if I have offended or provoked you by saying any of this, I was just throwing opinions and ideas around and I guess I got a bit careless.

I only have 2 discs of CCS to see before the end of the series (plus I need to see the 2nd movie after those), so it is feeling a bit sad to think it is so near to the end. I felt like it was going to be so long and all at first (looking at the numbers (18 show DVDs and 2 movies), but as the show went on I really got lost in the story and suddenly there is only 2 dics of show left. I kinda bare mixed feelings for the whole romance triangles though, I really liked Shaoran and Meilin as a couple, but now that is finished from what I can see, so that is a major bummer for me, but I am still thinking about Yukito vs. Shaoran for Sakura and how will that be effected by Yue and what will happen in general. And then they have two constantly attempted and failed confessions: Shaoran confessing love to Sakura, and Toya trying to talk to Yukito (presumably about his being Yue and having magic powers and all). I think maybe some of this will conclude on disc 17 because it is called Confessions (the disc title is called that anyway).

Side CCS note: I love big-Kero's voice (his Japanese voice that is), because I know it from Vash the Stampede on Japanese Trigun. I was cracking up in the 'Sakura in Wonderland' episode when he said "I AM THE QUEEN!!"

Big Kero's voice is also Ichan, from Angelic Layer!!

I saw the movie first, before the TV series had even been made, and before I'd read any of the manga. Maybe that's the only way to like it.

Yes, CCS did seem very long at first, when it was actully being released. Stupid Pioneer, releasing one disc every 3 or 4 months >_<.

lol, you think THAT's bad? I have to wait years until all of InuYasha will be on DVD sets! Viz does 1 box set a year X_X I am so unhappy with them, it's worth waiting to buy the box sets, but I wish they would do 2 a year or something, after all, they've dubbed around 126 or so of the 167 episodes, so they can do better than they have been, even considering the details of making a DVD (especially a set). But back on topic... I am looking foward to buying the CCS box sets (the first one will be out on my birthday this year, and the second will be out in November).

Cool. Jeikobu really wants to get a CCS wall scroll for our room, seen as we have nothing even Clamp related on our walls.

I still think they should have used The Clow Book as the case for set 1, and The Sakura Book (which I couldn't find a good picture of) for set two. Oh well, so long as the episodes are appropriately available, it isn't that big a deal.

This is interesting I found it while searching for pix of the clow book on google. Good for cosplay or something I guess?

RG Veda was their first official manga, although they had worked as Doujinshi artists before that.

Hi Crossdive! Want to join the Club? Just ask!

Does anyone know if any bits of CLAMP's doujinshi are available for viewing anywhere on the web? I'd imagine they're *very* expensive to get, if even available at all, but I'd love to see images from them if anyone knows someplace or someway to see them.

Viz is actually doing better now than previously. They average about one DVD per month (although they do lag on their boxsets. Part of the reason for that is to keep folks who buy DVD's as they are released from getting upset by boxset available as soon as the last DVD comes out.) It took me over ten years to collect all of Ranma as it came out.

Not that that has a whole lot to do with CLAMP. Wish I could check out the xxxHolic and Tsubasa movies out in theaters right now in Japan. He said trying to say something relevant in his post.

Random observation: CLAMP can't seem to decide what color Subaru's eyes are. They are green in some of the official Tokyo Babylon artwork, and in the Tokyo Babylon anime, but they are blue in the X TV anime, some of the X artwork, and even some of the Tokyo Babylon artwork! Maybe Subaru-kun bought contact lenses after the Seishiro incident ^^.

Yeah, I suppose, they do a fairly good job with the releases when they do them. I am kinda hoping though that once all of the InuYasha series is on DVD by barebones that they will speed up the box sets. Either way, I guess that is offtopic.

Does anyone know when Tsubasa will come to american DVDs, I really like the show so far and so I wondered when I would have a chance to get a hold of some episodes on DVD.

w00t! Excellent news. Tsubasa's wonderful, the more eps the better, and as you said, they won't have to pull an ending out of thin air. Hopefully this will allow them to better base things of the manga.
