Earlier there was discussion on giant mecha, and in general they are ridiculous for war. The construction cost would be in the trillions (a 100 million per bullet I would say... a good billion per missile) plus the collateral damage would break a country...

I think Masamune Shirow has a good vision for using mechs in warfare... the Ghost in the Shell mech variants are more realistic than the Appleseed version but they utilize the same system to accuratly fire a firearm that no man alive could heft. The arms of the mech are motion sensitive to the pilot's so there is a quality grip and firing ability (of course i really wouldn't want my hands sticking out of the mech like his do...). He has a problem with over-kill though... using armor-piercing rounds for soft targets (ie guys in a car) and blowing two guys heads apart with a semi-automatic (must be uranium tipped -_-).
