Bleach appreciation thread

^_^ Title says it all. I'm currently on episode 38(yes i know i'm behind...I have 3 I need to watch to catch up) and am certain this show just keeps getting better! Comedy and drama that mix up randomly(gotta love Rukia's crazy picture drawings. )and yet for some reason my emotions get totally tangled up in the plot. man...even the minor side characters are well-developed and get a spot in the lime-light. *obsesses*

so yeah...lol....i'm no reviewer, just rambling addictedly. Someone should come into the thread and rave too. we can obsess together! :jump:

(oh...and I'd love to hear from people who have read the manga. I own #1 but have yet to read...saving it for college and stress-relief there, lol)
Cast in the name of God, ye not guilty.

Though I enjoy the anime, I much prefer the manga (especially recent developments). In terms of the anime I am actually as far behind as you are.

Basically, I enjoy everything except for how drawn out it is. The manga increasingly uses numerous full-page/two-page panels in one issue, and the anime is starting to slow down and exhibit DBZ-esque qualities. One element I have especially enjoyed is that it shows signs of having serious and sometimes in-depth planning before hand, leading to an enjoyable thought. Those following the anime haven't really ran into this aspect yet...

I haven't seen the Bleach anime, I've just read the manga - the ones released in bookstores. What exactly is the difference between them? Is it like 'Fruits Basket' where the anime rearranged the manga's plot?

UC pseudonym, what sort of DBZ qualities are you finding in the anime?

i really like bleach, the anime is good so is the manga..dbz qualities i see are how drawn out the fights are or the storyline and how they happen to end it just when it seems to get very interesting
Love is that feeling you get when a girl looks at you and it feels like your driving a car at high speeds and experience a sudden drop. You know what i mean? That sudden sinking feeling you get in your stomach? Yeah, that's love. Leave's you speechless everytime.

I haven't really been able to watch the anime, but I do love the manga. Its one of my favorites! ^__^ I am definitely a Bleach fan! \(*o*)/

My fave characters are Rukia, Renji, the guy with the beach bum hat (always forget his name) and another character whose powers are not introduced until like Chapter 186 or something - but I won't give that away. XD

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

His first name is Kisuke.

The differences are minor. A few times the violence is toned down and one episode has some plot alterations, but most of the time it is almost panel for panel.

Longer dramatic pauses, slightly longer shots of people being shocked, more (and lower quality) slow motion just following attacks, more smoke in general. Just filler, really, but in a few seconds at a time.

UC pseudonym - Thanks for the response. Filler, eh? Sigh. Sounds like the last season of Rurouni Kenshin. Guess I'll steer clear of the anime and stick to the manga! If true_noir_chloe likes it, it's got to be good!

I can't speak for the anime, but I just read through Vol 3 of the manga today, and wow. Good stuff. I really felt for the characters in this volume. And there were some good laughs and cool action as well. Anyways, yeah I like Bleach. But I haven't yet seen the anime. I guess I better watch some before it gets licensed.

This new saga has the potential to be interesting, but the recent villains... they're the type that you really want to see killed off, and quickly. However, I have been wondering about one statement: it was said that there were three powers capable of threatening them - who? Ichigo is probably a safe bet, but then things branch off quite a bit (and there is always the question of how many people they know about).

I'm up to the latest episode of Bleach, ep.46. I don't really read the manga, because it have spoilers for future episodes.

I'm just kinda curious UC, what episode are you on right now?

I most recently watched 46. The villains I was referring to were introduced only very recently in the manga, so hence my previous post would make little sense to you. In fact, the anime hasn't even reached anything really important in terms of the plot.

Well, that is interesting to know. Now I can't wait for future episodes. :) Now here a question the strikes my mind. How many episodes will Bleach have? Since the creators are the same for Naruto and Yu Yu Hakusho; I'm expecting this series is going to last awhile, but I could be wrong.

Many more. There is a great deal of plot left to cover, and I mean that both in the current manga and my speculations as to the entire manga. A friend of mine noted that there are generally about six chapters to one episode, so you can figure from there (as there are 192 chapters as of this post).

I should be able to cover potentially offensive content fairly thoroughly, but ask questions if you have more after reading this.

Most obviously: violence, language, sexual content. There is plenty of violence, some of it pretty extensive (never gory, but very, very bloody). From what I've seen of the Viz translation, the language is moderately clean (and I've seen pretty much everything out so far). In general there is no direct sexual content, but there are definitely some references, some of which are really rather disturbing when you think about them. Also, there is a mostly unimportant lesbian character.

Now, for the more important stuff. Its view of the afterlife and such is the pretty typical Eastern one involving an afterlife and then general reincarnation. If you can get over the fact that this isn't operating from a Christian paradigm, it is pretty religiously neutral. Much later in the series, I believe a character says he intends to make himself God, but this isn't fully clear yet. As for the series' general philosophy, it is more or less the usual harmless shonen stuff.

I've watched up to episode 44 and I can't wait to see the rest. I think the sub I watched was a fan-sub, though I'm not sure. Is there an official sub (or dub, though I doubt it)? And if it has been released on dvd, we haven't seen any of it here in Africa.

Anyhow, it is a great series. I admit that at times the sexual references can be irritating and of course the whole afterlife-spiritworld thing is nowhere near the truth. Just watch it with a pinch of salt (like any fantasy). In short: Bleach rocks!

Favorite character: Chad, or Sado, or is it Chado, or all of the above. Anyway, we like him so much we've decided to dub him: "THE CHAD"

Your favorite?

Not yet, but I believe the anime is at least being considered by an American company.

Those who only watch the anime won't really understand this, but: Aizen. That's all I'll say for the moment. However, I like Kisuke Urahara as well.

Aizen, eh? I won't even try to figure it out, since I haven't read the manga. But the character in the anime is kinda cool. Kisuke is also a great character. Come to think of it, they all are! Except maybe Ichigo's dad... strange little man. :eh:

Ichigo's dad is indeed strange, but he isn't as simple as he appears. I'm thinking of what he tells Ichigo at his mother's grave (it was better in the manga but still similar in the anime), but also things that happen later (which shall not be named now).
