"The Mighty" Best movie ever, oh yeah ^^

Postby Rocketshipper » Tue Aug 30, 2005 10:00 pm

And I'm serious too. I just rented "The Mighty" on saturday and totally loved it. It's become one of my favorite movies of all time. It was cool, and depressing, and uplifting all at the same time, and had awesome performances, especially by Elden Henson, who played the main character. Elden Henson is quickly becoming one of my favorite actors; he should be in more stuff. Anyway, Based on the book "Freak the Mighty" the movie is the story of two boys, an oversized introverted 14 year old named Max Kane (played by Elden Henson) and his next door neibour, a genuis kid named Kevin Dillon (AKA Freak, played by Kieran Culkin), who suffers from a crippling physical disability. After Kevin is assigned as Max's student reading tutor the two quickly form a close friendship. Inspired by tales of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, the two boys soon begin to think of themselves as a knight called Freak the Mighty, and try to uphold the nobel ideals of the stories they love. It has awesome lessons and themes, and is very moving. I've already watched it twice and plan to buy the movie, soundtrack, and the original book and it's sequal. I'm obsessed!! :dizzy: Has anyone else here seen this totally awesome movie? If you havn't then you should go out and rent it NOW, lol. Are you still sitting there? I said go now

http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Theater/5500/mighty.html A cool fan page for the movie, with lots of information and some pictures. Of particular interest is the rant on Miramax's handling of the film. I hate them.

http://www.theonenetwork.com/playvideo.asp?type=music&videoid=sting1 A link to the music video for the main theme of the Movie, written and sung by Sting. It'sa cool song ^^ The lyrics are really good.

By the way, today (August 30th) is Elden Henson's birthday, he's 28.

Max: ...And by the time we get here, which I guess should be the end, you're going to know the story of Freak the Mighty, who slayed dragons, rescued maidens, and walked high above the world

I only saw the latter half of the movie, but yeah--it does get depressing. But it's good, and I wish I could have seen the whole thing.
