Rick Hunter vs. Amuro Ray
In light of the Superman vs. Goku thread, I decided to have a mecha anime battle. I decide to pit two ace pilots and main characters from two different classic mecha series against each other. The first is Rick Hunter (or Hikaru) from Robotech/Macross and the second is Amuro Ray from Mobile Suit Gundam. Both are skilled pilots and likeable characters. They both have their personal struggles to deal with. And they both come from classic series. Personally, I pick Rick Hunter, but that's just me. I'm a big fan of both series. Let the battle begin!!!

Rick Hunter's the man. They're both very similar in some respects in that they both want to preserve human life when possible. But while I like Amuro Ray, Rick is not born as a crack pilot but earned his abilities. Also I'm just really partial to Robotech over the original Gundam since it was my first real anime.

I really didn't like the original Gundam. I liked Wing and MS Team and even Stardust Memories, but I didn't like the original. So my vote goes to Rick Hunter because I liked his show better.
I didn't watch enough Gundam to gauge Amuro Ray's piloting abilities, so I'm degrading my vote to a popularity contest.

Wow. There are alot more votes for Rick Hunter. I also picked Rick Hunter, but surely there more Mobile Suit Gundam fans here? I dunno, I guess I just thought it would be a little closer.
