If You Give A Rat-Boy a Hug... Beware of Elephants
"It's certainly a beautiful day, but I could sure use a few more hours of sleep." Yuki thought to himself as he padded toward the kitchen.
"Ohayo, Yuki~Kun!" A sweet voice called out from inside. Yuki smiled as his eyes met Tohru Honda's.
"Ohayo, Tohru~Kun, did you sleep well?" Yuki asked her.
"Mmhm! The wind and the rain sang mom and I to sleep last night." Tohru said as she smiled sweetly.
"Tohru~San, Yuki~Kun! Could you both come in her for a minute?" A voice called out from the living room. Yuki and Tohru looked at each other and nodded in agreement that they would obey.
"Shigure~San, do you need something?" Tohru asked him kindly.
"Well, yes, you see I am in a dilema, and I need your cooperation. You see, I bought these zoo tickets thinking Aaya and Ha~san would go with us. Unfortunatly, Somethings have come up and we can't go. So would you two and Kyo go in our places? Hmm?" Shigure asked them with big puppy eyes.
"OH! That would be great! What do you think Yuki~Kun?" Tohru asked him smiling happily.
"That sounds like fun, Tohru~Kun." Yuki lied. He didnt really want to go anywhere with Kyo, however, Tohru REALLY wanted him to go.
"NOW WAIT A MINUTE!! WHO SAID I WAS GOING ANYWHERE WITH RAT BOY!?" Kyo yelled as he just rounded the corner. He was just coming in from training, when he heard his name AND Yuki's were used in the same sentence. He figured he was being dragged into something he didnt want to be dragged into.
Tohru ran up to him and bowed. "I am truly sorry, Kyo~Kun We should have thought of your feelings. Sorry." Tohru said.
"Uh. Urm.. Well.. I guess I'll go." Kyo replied. Tohru again softened his heart and once again she convinced him to go somewhere with Yuki.
"Really? Great! I'll go and pack us a great lunch!" Tohru said as she turned and skipped to the kitchen.
"Hey! No leeks!" Kyo shouted.
A Few hours later Kyo, Tohru, and Yuki arrived at the zoo.
"Man, It's been ages since I have been here." Kyo said as he stared at the enterance.
"I last went a couple days before mom died. She always loved to go see the elephants. She said that they reminded her of dad, because he was so big. She and I would watch the elephants for hours. It was alot of fun." Tohru said as she remembered the fond memory.
"Then, Tohru~Kun, we will go go see the elephants first." Yuki replied and smiled at her.
"Really? Thank you, Yuki~Kun!" Tohru replied happily.
A few minutes later, they arrived at the elephants' area. It was right beside the Lions'. They were pacing the fence watching their every move.
"Man, those things are big." Kyo said as he watched the giants move.
"Mmhmm! Elephants are very wise animals. They always protect one another in their herds. They work together like they are one big family." Tohru said as she smiled. "I think it would be nice, if all families stuck together like they do." Tohru finished, and she looked at Yuki and Kyo and smiled at them. They were staring into space, as if they were lost in deep thought.
Suddenly a lion let out a huge roar and made Tohru jump. She accidently fell foward and stumbled over Yuki, causing him to transform.
"Yuki~Kun!" She cried as she quickly gathered his clothes. "Where did he--Wha?" To Torhru's horror, she saw that inside the elephants' pen, was a small grey figure dodging the elephants' feet. When he transformed he must have been knocked into the pen.
"Yuki~Kun!" She called out as she climbed the fence into the pen. She started to run towards Yuki, while being screamed at by the zookeepers to get out. She ignored them. what was more important was that Yuki was about to be trampled by the creatures she and her mother loved to see. She was now only inches away from Yuki, she snatched him up, barely dodging the gigantic feet of an angry and scared elephant. She was nearly to the edge of the fence when she felt a blow to her head and lost her footing and fell. Tohru was lost to blackness....
"Ow, my head." Tohru thought as she opened her eyes. She was home, in her bed, and four eyes were staring at her. She sat up and looked around.
"Welcome back, Tohru~kun. Are you feeling better?" Yuki asked, concern etched all over his face.
"Yuki~kun, Kyo~kun! What happened?" She asked them.
"When you saved me, the elephants got scared and one swung it's trunk and it struck you pretty hard. When you fell I went flying, luckily I landed inside my clothes. I sat there, hoping that I wouldn't transform back, while Kyo got you out of the pen. He then carried me and my clothes to a bush just before I changed back." Yuki started.
"Yah, and I carried you to the nearest lobby and had them call the ambulance. They told us you had a concusion and tried to wake you and you did, for a while. The doctors told us we could take you home. So, here you are. Hatori is here, and he checks on you from time to time." Kyo finished.
Tohru was touched, she smiled at them and said, "Yuki~kun, Kyo~Kun, you, you worked together... just for me." Her eyes welled up with tears. "Thank you both!"
"Aw, come on! Do you have to cry?" Kyo asked annoyed.
"It's just, I'm so lucky to have friends like the two of you." Tohru explained. "I am truly blessed."
"Tohru~Kun, you have made our lives fun. I know you too, are a great friend." Yuki said as he smiled at her.
"Yah, for once Rat Boy and I agree." Kyo added.
"Yuki, Kyo, remember, Hatori said not to stay to long. Tohru~san needs her rest." Shigure intereupted.
"Well, Tohru, I am sorry for bothering you. Take care." Yuki said as he and Kyo walked out of the room, past Shigure.
"Tohru~Kun, please get better soon! I miss your cooking!" Shigure said as he shut the door, leaving Tohru to dream about her new wonderful elephant-like family, the Sohmas.
