Ok. Anybody seen this. I read the Newtype review. If the only major problem is violance I fully plan to see this. Can anyone tell me if the nudity is excessive?

It was very good series for me but there is excessive violence and some nudity, so fore warn if you do not feel comfortable on either one, don't watch it.

Is it avaliable to rent? If it is that mean the DVD is out and I might get it. Also I got series by fansubs.

It's not just the violence. There's a lot of graphic nudity (the main character is completely naked for the first 7 minutes of the first episode), and there's quite a bit of sexual innuendo.

Not just that, but the subject matter is extremely dark and controversial, covering incest, pedophilia, and severe animal cruelty.

Most of the anime fanatics on this board will most likely NOT want to watch Elfen Lied. For those of you grown up enough to handle it and don't feel like you're sinning by watching it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. This is my all-time favorite anime, and with good reason. It is a dramatic heartfelt and hauntingly beautiful portrait of a misunderstood girl with two different personalities in a cruel unforgiving world. IMNSHO everyone should see this masterpiece, but that's your choice to make and not mine. If you do choose to watch it, please don't take it as a plotless excuse for gore and fanservice. Please look past that to see the painfully glorious story that's painted on-screen for this series ^_^

Yeah... Hmm... I don't think CAA can officially recommend this one, guys. Like it's been mentioned, there's a LOT of innuendo, and the nudity is gratiuitious.

How much nudity is there AFTER the first episode?

The nudity thing isn't about "maturity" It's about christianity.

Guys...don't go getting the thread locked, ok?

It boils down to this. If you have a tolerance for that kind of thing and think it's worth your while to watch it, go ahead. If you feel as if you'll stumble or can't handle it, don't watch it. That's basically the end of it. Nudity can't possibly be unChristian or it would be wrong to take a bath naked. >.>

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

Luckily it's just a silly cartoon and we don't have to watch it. The preveiws made me go, "yech..."

The nudity is toned down somewhat after the first volume (in which she basically just roams around not really cognizant of the fact that she's naked as heck). But the violence remains the same. Any time someone gets within 2 meters of her she telepathically pulls them limb from limb (like if there was an invisible Kratos there to yank arms off and tear people apart at the torso). If you watch Elfin Lied, you're gonna need a squeegee for your TV screen. There's also the aforementioned other questionable content. My friends and I were watching this and we were like "Okay, how many more lines can this cross before it becomes something we shouldn't be watching?"

And some people enjoy watching this "silly cartoon". I think you should keep from posting just to state that you dislike something, it's not constructive. I understand if you don't want to watch it, but please stop interrupting threads to let people know you disapprove.

If you REALLY think anyone's crossing the line (which no one here has by any means) just PM them, please.

I'm finding it distasteful so far... like they decided to see how far they could go in Japan before the censors reined them in.

Maybe it does improve (I admit I have not finished disk one yet) but right now, I feel like it isn't very good

EDIT: Yeah, you're right. I am sorry, Kokoro. Nor did I say or think that anyone's crossing the line. Didn't mean to come across like that. But, back on topic, that little 60 sec preview looked bad... Just my own experience. Then again, they probrably took one of the worst moments from the show.
