<Personally, I couldn't stand it. I did try to sit down and watch it twice, but I really couldn't get into it: Too many dirty jokes and the style was not very appealing to me.>

*sniff* Now I feel really bad.

Nah, don't. You're free to make your own decisions about what shows you want to see and what you don't. It's just my opinion after all.

I agree with Ashley, i mean, I could not get that show at all, all I could see was the perverted jokes and confusing scenes...the story was pretty confusing and messed up, plot...pretty lame, but I guess since my little brother liked it, it must be some kind of boy thing...although I know some girls like it too...guess it's just some of us

i dont know i watched it twice and i think iliked it,
the first time i wached each episode not knowing what the heck was going on, but some how when the episode was over it seamed to make since. like it went to fast to catch while you were watching it, sorta the opistie of haibane renmei.

then the second time i saw it it made more sence and was acctully a kinda cool story once you get past the preverted jokes., so i guess i do like it .

SCOOTER? It's a VESPA! GET IT RIGHT!!!

**Whips out guitar and administers a beating on Wolfshark!**

lol j/k! The scooter, guitar-violence, and other assorted weirdness was part of what I loved about FLCL... I guess I just have that kind of sense of humor...

There is this Onegai Studios AMV done to this anime title, to the song "Shimmer" by Fuel. Great christian undertone to it, and wonderful choreography that seems to encapsulate the overall feel of the storyline (at least as I remembered it).

If anyone's interested in a copy, PM me. Ja ne!

Oh yeah, I watched this series, back when it was in fansubs (before US license/release) and I think I was confused by the convoluted storyline, but I forgave most of it for two reasons: 1) fiction and 2) dramatic perspective.

The main character is a young boy, and is still just barely getting to understand the world around him... I think the viewer shares this ignorance by no quirk of chance.

Also, the connection between Haruko, the guitar, and Ta-kun with the dimensional gate through his head, is meant to be purely a part of science-fiction, to be shelved and labelled next to the large tape eyebrows of whats-his-name (did I tell you I'm terrible with names sometimes?).

Anyways, I liked the story, but I haven't viewed it a second time to see if it was worthy of a higher rating than a 7.75/10 with me.

Ah yes, the 1963 Vespa 150GS (I *think* that's the one in FLCL). If you'd like to see and read more about this fascinating vehicle, point your browsers here:

http://www.vespausa.com/index.cfm

The only thing that you'd have to add to the Vespa (after buying one) is that little metal piece that's attached to the front wheel, to make it more like the one Haruko drove. Since Piaggio & Co. (the original company that manufactures the Vespa) don't make this accessory, you'll have to figure out how to fabricate one on your own. ;2)

Just my 3 yen. ;2)

I know this is an old thread, and I know this is off-topic, but what's a mod? Is that like...I don't get it. They had these guys called "mods" in this one movie, they rode the scooters and wore suits and stuff...

ha ha well back in the 50's and early 60's in england, there were two big culture groups that were going on at the same time, the rockers who were the biker guys, like the american biker clubs of the era, and the mods who were the preppy biker clubs, kinda. the mods rode vespas and were into glitz and fashion, while the rockers rode "bodged" or modified motercycles called cafe racers, and wore the black lether jackets. the rockers also were prodomantly poorer than the mods as well so they were typicly in differant classes which also helped to split them up. the two cultures were rivals cause they both hated eachothers guts, but they both were part of the bike seane of the era.

Did I get this right Noz?

its not unlike some of the street racer mess going on today, there are the grunge side and the posh side, and the two dont mix. im on the grunge side.

plus guys just dont look right on scooters

I know that as an open fan of shounen ai that I don't really have much of a place to complain, but there is *nothing* good about fanservice. :stressed:

Um... I'm getting the impression that you are promoting fan service, which is something that is a bit against the precepts of this board. Though not a mod, I've been here for a while, and I'm pretty sure they would say that it's not generally accepted to promote what you are saying as being the 'Christian Norm.' Some of our members are young and should not be exposed to some of these things. When posting, please bear in mind what Jesus had to say about 'causing one of these little ones to stumble.'

awesome...goofy weapons (guitar based combat, never seen that b4), bizarre and unique ways of introducing the evil charachters (exploding out of somones head...woah) one of the best series out there if you can handle rediculously random occurances and whatnot.

I'm not all too fond of FLCL, or Gainax in general, but it's NOT just a "boy thing."

Morgan Webb, of TechTV (X-play, screensavers) was the first reviewer of anime on TTV and her first choice was FLCL. Her obsession with it led Screensavers to include it in their top gifts to give thing for last Christmas I think...

In any case, FLCL is hypnotic... The style changes so much (whereas in most anime, there are only 1 or 2 styles, FLCL had... let's see: 1,2,3,4... at least 5... No, at least six (forgot about the south park thing)) and it's just so random... But, in the end, it wasn't that great... Of course, it is one of the most popular anime out in the US now, and it's continued where eva left off as getting Gainax some sort of "divine" status in the world of anime fandom...

If you thought FLCL was dirty, you're really going to be put off by Abenobashi...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evcNPfZlrZs Watch this movie なう。 It's legal, free... And it's more than its premise. It's not saying Fast Food is good food. Just watch it.

Hey, I'm not a big FLCL fan either. I never did like it that much. Haruko's kind of an interesting character (I don't like her for *that* reason, I'm not a total pervert!), but it's all in all just not my taste in anime.

Oh good'ol FLCL... yes very perverted I agree..but hey ash you have to admit there are MUCH worse animes as far as that goes...*cough* love hina *cough* It was really still an awesome anime! as my friend put it, FLCL is "A bunch of animators having an illegal ammount of fun!" hahahaha! The story wasnt really all that confusing,I pretty much got as much as you could around the 4-5 ep though you dont know about the end untill the last ep so lol ofcorse I didnt know that. And if you think about it, the plot never really was the point. Crazy anime, goodtimes, awesome thematic elemints.. FLCL
