Favorite weird al song?

Postby JediSonic » Sun Nov 02, 2003 5:23 am

Since there seem to be a lot of weird al fans in the CAA, I thought I'd ask: what tunes are you favorites?

I think my favorites would have to be YODA and Dare to Be Stupid. Totally clean, totally catchy, and totally hilarious!

Hmm... Thre are so many to choose from. Can't.... Decide....

I really liked 'My heartburn will go on' but I don't know if that was ever really released. I was at some guys house and he had recorded it at a concert, or something. Now I think you can find it online. Maybe. Anyway...

One of my other favorite groups is TMBG, so I really liked 'Everything you know is wrong' which is a parody of every TMBG song ever written.

And who could forget the 'Jilted Love(r)' category...
* Since you've been gone (fav)
* Melane (just wrong!)
* You don't love me anymore (lol)
* Those were the good ol' days (disturbing!)

And of course, 'Anakin Guy' was great. As was 'I lost on Jepordy, Baby.' Hmm.... Other good WA songs...

* The White Stuff
* Midnight Star

OK. My ADD is kicking in...

Often, I feel like my enjoyment of the material is less than it could be, since I am 13 and don't know most of the songs he parodies.

I've only heard 2 of his albums, actually, plus some stuff I, er, got :grin: on the internet (don't worry, I don't do that anymore though).

Yeah, "the saga begins" WAS pretty good! And I gotta laugh when I hear about how "I've got a funny feeling you don't love me anymore" after all the other lyrics in that song :lol:

Oh, and "Smells Like Nirvana" was good, but I had to look up most of the lyrics ;-)

[quote="JediSonic"]Oh, and "Smells Like Nirvana" was good, but I had to look up most of the lyrics ]

That's the whole point... The song was about how incomprehensable Nirvana was...

My fave is Albequerquie (however you spell that...) the 13 minute long song... My Ex-girlfriend (now married, with a kid... -_-) knows it by heart... It's great because the album doesn't come with they lyrics for that one... I just remembered I lost her album... That's probably why she wanted to end our relationship (hehe, just kidding... sorta) I gotta meet this guy she married... And this new kid of hers... And, well, her after two years...

I like most of his parodies which I know the songs they came from, but don't get into most of his style parodies as well... My favorite "style parody" is the germs song...

Hmm....this is a hard one since I love alot of wierd al songs....I guess I will say It's all about the pentiums and Albaturkey (I can't spell the real name of the song for it slips my mind but it rhymes with Albaturkey) You all should be able to figure it out. Anyway the weird thing is when I'm feeling down and Sad I throw on some Al and I fell much better. I don't know why but it's very Theraputic for me like reading a good manga or watching a good anime. But nothing beats a good long Prayer. Anyway I'm going of topic but those are my Fav wierd al songs.

yes, please post! I do know that they got the entire extras cast of the "Smells like Teen Spirit" music video together for Weird Al's video, and filmed in the same room... Pleas post!

Also, on a related note, 2 out of my 3 favorite anime music videos were to weird al songs: The horriscope song (warning: Love Hina fanservice) and the Jerry Springer song (this is probably about the only weird al song that you could actually consider offensive, so the song itself is the warning!) Both of them fit sooo well, and the Jerry springer one also involved a lot more effort than most others...

I wonder what's up next for weird al?

Well, as the story goes, Weird all called Kurt and asked him if he could use "Smells like Teen Spirit" for a parody. Kurt was really flattered. His quote was something like, "I finally realized we were a big name band when Weird Al parodied one of our songs." He asked Al if it was about food. (Which surprised Al, but probably won't surprise most other people. lol.) Anyway, Al said that no, it wasn't about food, but about how people couldn't understand the lyrics. Kurt said, "Yeah, that's funny. Do you mind if I play guitar on your version?" Al didn't have to think very hard about that one. Evidently, the unofficial take by the band was that the song would be the best publicity they ever got.

Anyway, that's your Hollywood Hogwash for the day. :)

I used to have the "Dare to be Supid" album on cassette tape years ago, don't know what happened to it. It has the all-time classics of "Like a Surgeon" and "Yoda" on it.... as well as Al singing "George of the Jungle" which at the time I didn't know there had been a TV show, just thought it was something funny he did.

I think that album had one of his first "breakup" songs (or whatever you want to call them), it's been a while since I've heard it.
