That happens with about 80% of the anime I watch.
Of the other 20%, 12% of it is junk and I stop watching it, and the other 8% I really really like and I just HAVE to see MORE! ;2)

Iria is like that. It's really good and after 10 years still holds up. Even if it's Very Cleche'

Thanks for the welcome ^.^
I'm a dvd collector (you should see my collection of non-anime dvds), and just think that a show doesn't become part of the collection until you actually buy it. Fansubs are cool so you can see if you like it, but if you really like it and want to watch it over and over again, then just buy it.
That goes along with the theory of pirated dvds. I have only bought 2 HK dvds, one was the Eva movie before it got released here. I bought the R1 as soon as it came out. The other is Azumanga Daioh (One of my favorites). When it gets released, I'll buy the R1.

Insofar as fansubs, I'll say there are some titles that have yet to make to US shores, and these I've still held onto for the most part (Kodomo no Omocha, Yawara, and until recently Hajime no Ippo), as these are the only ways to get decent english versions of these titles.
Yeah, if I was a complete purist, I should go buy a legit import version and keep until I get a R1 release. But alas I'm not made of money, so I can't do that. *sigh*
