[Kura Ookami]

The basic concept of Ikkitousen is that in modern day Japan several students inhabiit the reincarnated souls of ancient warriors. Because these are souls of warriors that fought over 1800 years ago these students are now fighting each other nearly to the death. Essentially Ikkitousen is about these students trying to either fight the destiny of the souls they inhabit or making that destiny come to pass.

The main charaacter of Ikkitousen is Hakufuu who is rumoured to be the reincarnation of a legendary fighter who was supposedly known for defeating many opponents with ridiculous ease. Hakufuus best friend is Koukin who is trying to help her restrain her power and energy lest she become a mindless villian once her true power is released.

The art in Ikkitousen is simply superb and very easy on the eyes. The backgrounds look good and the movements are fluid and lithe. While im on the visual aspect of the show this might be a good time to mention the fan service. There's alot of dialogue about the "big O" and comments on whether some of the characters have ever f*cked before or not. Add to this the overwhelming amnount of fan service that this show offers. Hakufuu often leaves a battle with a mere fraction of the clothes she was wearing when the fight began. All this fan service sometimes overwhelms the fact that this is a show of the fighting genre.

The fights themselves are pretty good with plenty of reversals punches and kicks and the like, but sometimes the fights are just power hit versus power hit And there's plenty of blood flying around in this show too. Alot of shows just have loads of fighting but no blood. Depending on what you like this show is really a love it or hate it anime.

I heard about the plot of this anime, and I was really interested. Until I saw a preview of it.

MAN. This show has WAY too much fanservice.

And I've seen Mahoromatic.

Speaking on a secular level, there's got to be a point where fanservice becomes boring, and I think that Ikkitousen is that point.

No, I agree with you. The manga especially (the anime was toned down, believe it or not ) seemed to have a lot of sexually charged poses with a plot thinly wrapped around it. In the earliest volumes, it semed there was a bit of a plot, but it died quickly.

Didn't help that it was an "adaptation" by Keith Giffen (who also ruined Battle Royale) instead of a translation, so the F-bomb poured out of there like it was the South Park movie...

if you really like fighting anime try tenjo tenge its way better then ikki tosen way less FS but still some but its really cool

I saw that anime in the store where I work. Initially, I thought it was some misplaced hentai. I mean, I'm a girl (ergo, fanservice/etc. doesn't generally bother me as much), and I was like "HOLYCRUDthat'ssomefanservice".

I rented Volume 1 because I heard from others it was good, but after watching it I wasn't too impressed. I tried volume 2 in hopes the story would pick up better, but no. True, the fighting is awesome but as Kura Ookami already stated, all fights tend to end with little to no cloths left on their backs. It's quite apparent that fanservice takes more prioroity then the story itself (which stats to lack) which ultimately made me not want to rent watch any more. It just gets old after awhile.

I think the series is aimed more towards desperate or delusional teens and young adults who are pervs that don't have anything better to do but watch fanservice.

If they focused more on the fighting and story itself rather then fanservice-fighting aspects, I think this series would have went over a lot better. The fanservice just clouds up the story way too much. Sad things is that the story had such potential. But yeah I agree, it's a love it or hate it kind of series.

I just looked up tha series. Yes, tha main character is tha reincarnation of the warrior Sun Ce of the Wu kingdom. Wow, I didn't know he was bad. I think her friend may be tha reincarnation of Sun Ce's best friend Zhou Yu or Sun Ce's wife Da Qiao. I wouldn't want to be Dong Zhuo or Lu Bu or Cao Cao (maybe)!!!
