The only thing I would add pertains to the spelling of names: I've seen it "Jin", and not "Gene". But this may not make a difference, and I could be mistaken.
Think happy thoughts.

For some reason, I thought that the Adult Swim people decided to spell it "Gene" but after doing a bit of research I discover that they evidently still use "Jin." That shall be changed, momentarily.

Added spoiler tags.

And I think the review will seem better now, wildarmsheero. I forgot to split the reviewer's personal comments from the main review. We encourage the CAA reviews to be completely objective, and then the writer gives his or her personal thoughts in the comment and rating section. When checking out reviews, it's a good idea to keep in mind that these two sections are based solely on opinion. I'm supposed to be writing a sort of read-me on all of this and I've been dragging my feet, but I hope it makes better sense now. I think UC is the last person who'd write an unfair review. ^^

That's fairly simple. The dub is written more or less as a direct translation. As such, the dialogue (which I'm sure sounded good in Japanese) is slow, repetitive and a bit dull. Have you seen the sub? So far, they've at least made it interesting. Certainly, they made some rather liberal changes... but the dub people did as well, in all honestly.

wildarmsheero wrote:Overall, I felt the review was unfair. Samurai Champloo by nature is a wacky series that should not be taken too seriously. The historical innaccurcies were done on purpose, this is even addressed at the begining of the show.

I merely noted those inaccuracies]do like their anime serious.

wildarmsheero wrote:
Also, religion does play a major part in the plot. Fuu's father was a Christian, and the reason he left is because he didn't want his family to be hurt. This is rather important considering this is the person Fuu is searching for, which is the plot of the show.

However, how often does that plot really come in? Other than the fact that it motivates their journey, that element of the plot rarely has to do with the show. So while technically religion has a major role, the vast majority of episodes make no reference to it and its presence in the series is almost neglibable.
Perhaps I didn't make myself clear: I liked this series. I felt it was better than the vast majority of titles. I'll probably watch it again at some point, and I watched the Jin vs Mugen fight at the beginning at least three times. But as the review system is set up, it mostly focuses on the negative aspects.

I think that I agree with you in terms of Mugen. Otherwise, I'll have to disagree, as I pretty much felt the opposite. But to each their own]That's not a very good review system
That depends upon what the system is meant to accomplish. We more or less assume that those looking at it have already done some research on the anime or become interested in it before coming to us. There are anime reviews all over the internet; what makes ours at least somewhat original is that they mention basically all content that viewers could find offensive.

A good review UC overall. Made some good points and some fair criticizements, mostly anyway but that's just a difference of opinion.;) But you did the series justice.

Also the distributor is Geneon.

Did the thought occur to you that I might have meant "dually"? The comment could well have been of two purposes. [You are correct.]
