Meh, I guess it matters to me because I sort of grew up on it. Other than Superbook or Pokemon, it was my first anime that I watched on a regular basis. I think I started watching when I was in 5th grade. I started in the middle of the Saiyin saga, and I watched it until the end of the Cell saga. So, I'm happy to see it back again, if only for old times' sake. XD Either way, uncut on CN is a big deal, especially considering how much they cut out of Rurouni...>_< Stupid CN...

I suggest watching this just too see the good parts of DBZ, IMO It shoud have ended with Frezia saga.

It was supposed to end there, but the editors had Toriyama keep going.

Shave DBZ down to maybe a 52 episode series and cut out the filler, you'd have a pretty good anime.

Unfortunately, Funimation is not 4kids.
...although I would like to see uncut Shaman King and One Piece myself.

As for DBZ, I've read quite a bit of the manga.
I don't care for it enough to seriously persue the over-extended anime however, uncut or no.
But, I don't have cable anyway so it doesn't really matter.

Shao Feng-Li, I'm not a fan of the said animes. I'm not for cursing, extreme violence or nudity in anime or anything but these anime were butchered (edited extremely) to warrant a children audience. I think this is plain wrong as they weren't targeted at kids in the first place.

Well, technically, DBZ is a kids anime (as is Shaman King, Yugioh, and One Piece.)

Although they do have a large number of teens and adults who are fans of said series, they were geared towards children as the primary audiance. The anime versions were anyway.

Manga tends to skew older.

Let's not forget that mature content, in Japan, does not carry the same weight that it does in America.

So some violence, language, and brief nudity would be about teenage level. DBZ has all of these, but none are gratuitous or over the top. It's not Ninja Scroll, people.

They still edit things down quite a bit over there. Heck over half of Cowboy Bebop was never shown till something like a year or two later.

But yeah you're right DBZ from the best of my knowledge was not an after school 4:00 in the afternoon show in it's original form. It was on an Adult Swim type of programming block geared for teens and young adults.

Remember, Japan holds different standards as to what is acceptable for kids/family viewing.

Shonen TV series like DBZ or Naruto or Shaman King or Inuyasha or Detective Conan or Yu Yu Hakusho, as well as most after school and primetime anime(anime that airs before 8:00 PM), are geared towards general audiances.

I have a copy of the Inuyasha manga #1.If the original anime is anything like what was in the manga the only part that could be said to be objectionable is one place where Kagome is seen partially coming out of the water after bathing.I just point that out as to what differences might exist between Japanese and American versions of anime.

As far as DBZ goes it looks like it's following the path of Dragonball GT when they
decided to come out with The Lost Episodes.On the whole I think showing anime this way is a good idea and I would love to see other anime series follow.It would be nice to see aired on tv uncut versions of other shows.

Basically, it seems they're sticking a TV-PG on it and saying it's good to go. There may be some lesser edits for language and such, though (probably not d-words, but possibly if Piccolo says the s-word).

As far as getting on more uncuts during non-Adult Swim hours, it seems Yuyu Hakusho would be a prime candidate.

Also, this may be a bit much to hope for, but I would like to see them give Case Closed a run in that timeslot. From what I understand its ratings in were less than stellar for the 18-34 age group (the AS target demo, which led to its current graveyard timeslot), but in the 12-17 demo it did fairly well. If they gave it a shot at 10:30 or so, targeting a slightly younger audience, it might make it.

I think one of the reasons they brought back DBZ is that it's just so mega-popular.
