I've always been a big fan of the AMV scene. Even gone so far as made some of my own (which really stink badly). Well recently I've been on the look out for some new ones to add to the collection and I was wondering if anybody has some really good recommendations for AMV's.

Now there are some I do have which tend to stick to Author so here are a few of the favorites for stuff I do have things from.

Zarxrax
Vicbond
Mexican Junior
j2A (Omnistrata)
Hitori
and Ruby Eye Productions.

Are there others out there that have some pretty good ones recently.

I'm assuming you go to http://www.animemusicvideos.org? I have something like 70+ amvs on my hard drive (over 3 GB!). SnhKnives makes some good videos as does Chibity. A good place to find excellent videos there is by checking out the different Viewer's Choice Awards nominees for each year (2001-2005); they can be organized by video category, and pretty much all of these are extremely well made since they were put in the contest! There's a superb Rahxephon video called "euphoria" made by Koop! Check it all out!

Yup I have been there a number of times. I'm a member too. Names Death W. Apacolypse of D&M Productions. I have some 1200 AMV's but a lot of those are older ones and I am constantly looking for something new to show my friends and fellow geeks who gave me my name.

I hope either the style of your current criticisms in general don't stay a consistent factor of your membership, or that it is offset by a good deal of productivity of quality posts/work. Perhaps I have been too hasty in saying this now, but I feel I should say it now rather than later.

I love AMVs. I've seen quite a few trigun, fruits basket, and gundam wing ones that were quite awesome. I even made one once, but I spent like 80 hours on it and the file was huge in the end....and blah, never ever doing that again.

I love AMV's, I have over 5GB of them :). Kind of sad, but whatever.

For a AMV to be good in my opinion is uniqueness. So many people try to use what have already been done; music choice and anime scenes. To be honest, some of my favorite AMV are from artists who aren't well known. But for some of the well known artists, some good ones are:

Tokyo Anime Studios: Sadly she no longer makes AMV's :( Probably one of my all time AMV maker. To be honest, I have yet to see one of her AMV's I didn't like. You can find her on animemusicvideos.org

aluminumstuidos: I have most of his AMV's. Some aren't as good as others, but he has some really good ones.

and

RubyEye Pictures: I have a really good Princess Nine AMV from there.

Eventually, when I get more time this summer I would really love making an AMV. It's a goal of mine.

Yes, the Phenomenon video was absolutely gorgeous. Although his Bas tard (actual name of an anime) one received a letter from the band he used in appreciation to the work. His Shamanic Princess video is really gorgeous also.
