Scryed on CN

Postby Otaku10 » Fri May 27, 2005 6:57 pm

It is going to air this saturday and I just want to get people opinions on this. Plus I never saw the series. A lot of my friends saw this and recommend it to me but don't have enough money to get the whole series.

It looked interesting when I first heard of it. I never saw it, because there where other more interesting shows to buy when it came out.

This is the first series to come on Adult Swim since Cowboy Bebop that actually looks decent.

I believe Steve Blum does the main character's voice. What's his name, Kazuma?

So Trigun, FLCL, and Fullmetal Alchemist weren't decent then?

s-CRY-ed's an anime you're only going to want to watch for the awesome Alter fights. The plot is very confusing and hard to make sense of. Enjoy anyway...

P.S. Paranoia Agent (which airs before s-CRY-ed is A LOT BETTER!)
Anata e tsunagaru daichi ni, umarete yokatta...

I've seen S-CRY-ed up to the third dvd. o_o; I haven't been able to find the fourth one anywhere. x_x

I really like the show. It's got a good plot in my opinion, good characters... great artwork. The only thing I can think of is language. If I remember correctly, Kazuma has a not so tamed mouth. It's not like excrutiatingly bad, but a few words pop out when he gets mad. o_o

I do remember on like the third episode he made a kind of merf comment to this girl. Thats it for any innuendo though. Eveything else is really cool. My favorite character is Zetsui. ^-^; Even if he is an alter.

Oh, silly me, I forgot to put Big O there with Bebop. ::rolls eyes::

You must understand, personally I did not think any of the shows you listed were really that great.

Trigun (definately not great IMNSHO), FLCL (not great but better than Trigun), FMA (never got into it) Big O (vaguely interesting, but would be better without the mechs), Cowboy Bebop (interesting in the way that a show on Fox would be, except for the last 2 eps which made it something special)

I watched the first couple episodes of this show in my digisub days, but never got into it... Plus, I think the words in that very ricky-martinish theme song made me scoff, but I don't remember why (I guess this calls for a trip to http://www.animelyrics.com !)

Since I don't have cable or satelite anymore, I can't watch it anyhow... *sigh*

The main conflict seems to be between Kazuma and the HOLY.

HA! I knew that was Sanosuke that I heard as I watched it last night! I didn't catch the character's name, but when I heard him, I thought, "That sounds like Sano!" ^_^ Sweet! And Kaoru's in it, too! n_n

I don't like S-Cry-Ed. Call me closed-minded, but colorful shows like s-cryed and Gundam Seed, I can't stand. *BLEH* XP

Also caught the premiere of Paranioa Agents. That was some crazy creepy stuff.

I KNOW! Btw.. ALL of those character I mentioned played some kind of roll in Rurouni Kenshin! Steve Blum plays the big bad guy Shishio in the Kyoto arc.. (I thought I heard Richard Hayworth as the reporter..but I could be wrong)

I LOVED THIS EPI!! THE OPENING THEME/Graphics practically made me drool! IT WAS SO WELL CORIOGRAPHED!! (I loved the blinkie colors! ^^)

sCRYed was among the very few anime titles I've watched completely. It was pretty clean (don't recall any nudity, just a girl with a very short impractical skirt), wasn't graphically violent and some swear words. There was quite a number of short-tempered characters in the show so expect quite a number of fights. hehe

I personally enjoyed this anime title except for the last few episodes, which I found disappointing.

However, I can't say the same for the -manga-. From what I gather, the manga seemed to have a significant amount of potentially offensive stuff (ex. fanservice etc). I may be wrong but I guess it doesn't hurt to share what I've heard and glanced through.

Okay, this'll probably sound really stupid and a bit off topic, but...What, in definition, is fanservice? I've been hearing that term quite a bit lately, and, while I have some idea of what it may be, I'm not really sure. So that'd be wondermous if anyone could tell me what it is! ^_^

Anyways, that's too bad about the manga...because I really liked the show a lot! Of course, the fact that the first episode ended on a cliff-hanger could be a sign of one of those shows that really drags its eps. out...i.e. DBZ (The Freeza saga lasted about 4 years...The planet on which Goku and Freeza fought their final battle was supposed to explode "IN 5 MINUTES!!" and yet, the planet survived for about 3 more eps....XD) Well, hopefully s-CRY-ed will be a really good series anyways! ^_^

But in response to ChristianRonin, I know! The opening theme was so cool! I love it when CN leaves the opening theme in a show, because they cut it way too often...-_- Sadness. But about the voice actors, I always find it so funny when the same voice actors from one show do characters from another show, i.e. Ruroken and Trigun. I got wa-a-ay too excited when I first realized that Meryl Strife was voiced by Dorothy Melendrez, and even moreso when I realized Legato Bluesummers was voiced by Richard Hayworth! XD So cool...^_^

One of the things I noticed was that they changed the name of the organization from the HOLY to the HOLD.Also wondering when the girl on the plane is going to show up again she was shown in the opening credits so I take it she's going to stick around and become one of the major characters.

I rented the first two DVDs or so. It's pretty good.
Very Xmen-ish.

I have no real comments on the manga other than that the art is ugly and from everything that I've heard, the anime is quite a bit superior.

I'm pretty sure she was voiced by Dorothy Melendrez...it came on again tonight, so I watched it and I think I recognized her voice...Anyways, so yeah! ^_^
