I saw the first few episodes when I bought the DVD recently on sale. So far I've enjoyed it. I'm curious, do the OVA's encapsulate the series or are they a separate storyline?

Language? In the manga, the OVA's or the anime series?

The first OVA takes place about ten years before the events of the TV series. It's very, very violent, very, very sad, and very, very freeking rad. It shows how Kenshin came to be the man he is today and what events helped to shape the rurouni he is. The second OVA takes place after the events of the TV series but features many, many flashbacks to battles and events in the TV series and in the manga.
I'm a shoe-in for hater of the year.

Kenshin=Flippin' SWEET! I love Rurouni! It's my favorite anime ever! We should definitely make a Kenshin guild! That'd rock! I've read to vol. 14 in the mangas, and I've read a little bit of the Jinchuu arc through online scanslations...I really want to see the OVA's, but I have no money or time to go to Blockbuster...-_-' I started watching in October from the first episode, and I was SO SO MAD when CN took it off the air right after the Raijuuta episodes...>_< So I've gotta get the Kyoto arc on dvd or something...

I love how the Japanese history is integrated into the series...I have a growing interest in the Meiji revolution thanks to Ruroken and The Last Samurai (LOVE that movie).

As far as favorite characters go...Kenshin is definitely #1! Followed by Kaoru, then Aoshi, Misao, Sanosuke, Yahiko, Hiko, Saitoh, and Okina. Why Okina? Because he's just so cool! ^_^

Anyways, anyone else notice who voices the characters from Trigun, Meryl Strife and Legato Bluesummers? n_n Dorothy Melendrez (Kaoru) and Richard Hayworth (Kenshin!!)!!! Ha! That flipping RULES! ^_^ Just thought I'd mention it...

As for the violence, well...To tell you the truth, it really doesn't bother me all that much. After watching movies like The Patriot, Lord of the Rings, The Last Samurai, and after disecting stuff in biology class (n_n) violence just isn't really a problem for me. Especially when you consider the era in which Ruroken is set...but whatever! The story is what keeps me hooked, not to mention character development, the romantic aspect, and the hilarious-ness of it all. I just love Ruroken!

I wonder if they were going to have it so that Megumi and Sanosuke were going to end up becoming a couple the same way that Kenshin and Kaoru were.

I don't know...I always thought that Sano and Megumi would make a cute couple, if only to keep Megumi OFF of Kenshin! XD *doesn't like Megumi...grr..* XD
