They're actually stopping a series run? That surprises me, somewhat; they didn't even end at a good point. Other than the disclaimer, I'm not very impressed by Samurai Champloo.

Regarding Stand Alone Complex, I was a bit disappointed. Ultimately I felt like the ending was unfulfilling, but it could have been a lot worse.
When everything was revealed to be alright, I was skeptical for quite a while. I kept expecting an extremely sinister revelation.
I've also had mixed feelings about Samurai Champloo. Even though it's fairly innovative, I still think that it's all style and no substance. I watched a few of the subbed episodes and the show didn't have that depth that I've come to appreciate in titles like Full Metal Alchemist and Cowboy Bebop.

Hello there! I'm back after a long break! I started watching anime again in 2016. I still check the forum too!

I agree on FMA, but since GITS did END, I think they have every right to move it... 2nd gig better be on though, whenever it gets released.

I've only just started watching FMA... So far it's great (and I'm so happy that Adult Swim is showing it from the beging during the week... that way I can catch up...) But it finally dawned on me who Hughes was....
>.< it was so depressing (I hadn't gotten to see that episode) I was like "aw, he's cute and funny I like.... wait.... THAT'S the guy everybody's been talking about?!?! NOOOOO!!!!"
seems like I always like the characters that end up like that..... how sad...
and as for Samurai Champloo.... I dunno.... that one just looks weird so I haven't bothered with it... if somebody wants to convince me otherwise please do.... (but I think I'll stick with kenshin when it comes to samurai stuff until then...)

and yes I edited this just in case I said something stupid that could spoil things... I didn't think I did but just in case...

Funimation needs to dub faster. That really the whole reason why we will not get anymore new eps of FMA for a bit.

Don't worry about that. CN or AS has brought all the eps for GITS 2rd gig. It will just not be showed untill Sept.

Let's remember to spoilerize... and, if possible, remain on topic. Note that I won't be in this post, so provided that posts are informative, it doesn't matter greatly.

Currently I'm undecided about Samurai Champloo. From the commercials I've seen, I like their disclaimer but I don't approve of the hip-hop style. Intrinsically bad idea, in my mind. In any case, it is absolutely ridiculous for Jin to have glasses, but he is my favorite character based solely upon design. What I have heard about the plot is minimal: the series could develop well, or end up all style and no substance.

I heard Samurai Champloo had bad material in it. I can't remember exactly what now, but I know it didn't sound good.

In the midst of the mourning of our favorite Lieutenant Colonel turned Brigadier General, I return with tidings that should at least perk some spirits:
We have not yet seen the end of Maes Hughes.....entirely. In the soon to be released movie 'Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shambala', Ed ends up in our world and the landlady of where he is living looks like our world's equivalent to Gracia Hughes and, from spoilers I've read, we may get to see the our-world equivalent of Maes in the movie as well. Even if it's just a bit part, I'll be glad to see him.
ooooh, I must ask questions now..
this isn't a spoiler... more of a question that could lead to spoilers ^_^ So then the rumors I've been hearing about two worlds (their world and one that's like our time) is true? So, then is there two versions of each character? I mean are they doing a sort of Chrono Cross thing where you have two of the same person but they live on different planes of time? >.< I hope I can make sense with this... I think only those who've played Chrono Cross would know what I'm trying to ask >.< *sigh*

To answer as far as I know, in the Anime, yes there is a gate between the Alchemy world and 'our' world. I've heard bits and pieces of different conversations about it and, despite some foolish maneuvers on my part, am trying to avoid spoilers from that far along, so I can't help too much about how the gate operates, ect. Also, so it would seem, the Alchemist characters have 'doubles' in our world. In fact, one of the major characters in the movie is basically the Human Alphonse equivalent, Alphonse Heidrich or some such
^_^ Thank you so much R. Zion! That just made FMA jump to the top of my must see list!
I love the whole parallel universe/ time travel idea, especially if the characters end up having doubles. (which is why I love chrono cross and generator Gawl.) It also gives them a chance to make up for killing off characters... sort of. It's nice to know that Hughes is still around, sort of. ^_^ I can't wait to see the movie now!!! Thanks again!

Just for reference, the movie actually comes out in Japan in the next month or two! Wooo! So now I just gotta be careful about spoilers...or any more spoilers...until it comes out, which I'd imagine won't be til summer/fall/winter of 2006 since the next season of the TV show doesn't start til September.
Regarding the conversation between R. Zion and dragonnova: is that from the anime, or from this movie? If the former, I just had something very major ruined for me. That isn't really a problem, but sometimes it helps to put details on spoiler brackets.

*bows deeply* My sincerest apologies, UC, if I did ruin anything for you.

To be honest, it's mostly the latter, but all of it is an end result of what happens at the end of the series. And the cameo I mentioned, by way of how it affects the movie's plot, shouldn't be very much. From what I've heard, if it IS him, then it will be just as I said....a cameo.

You were spoilering your conversation properly. However, this thread is about a certain episode of Fullmetal Alchemist, so I was reading spoilers presuming they wouldn't go beyond that. Either way, it is largely unimportant.

If you have a question, feel free to ask it... however, it might do to somewhat explain the topic before beginning the spoiler portion of your post.

What you two talked about then justifies what I've read in the manga series... that explains it all.

How utterly brilliant actually... like a bank you could say.
