Howdy and welcome! :jump:

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

I've always found the lochaber to be a bit heavy. It's great for ranged attack and heavy damage, but you just can't use it in close combat.

Anyway, welcome to the nuthouse!

Well the lochaber was used primarily like any spear type weapon (definitely if it had a hook customized on the other side) as a dehorsing weapon for knights or as a phalanx manuever as in like the more commonly used pike. Your right that it wouldn't be any good against foot soldiers.

ah man it copied my earlier post. Note to self do not click retry.

Actually I planned to ask you oldphilosopher, you actually have a lochaber? Or was this in a game that you are talking about? If you do have one Id like to have a pic of it if you wouldn't mind.

I don't have a weapons collection right now because I am broke. :sniffle:

Very good! I'll answer a few questions, make a few points here. My father is a history teacher, and 'war technology' is my pirmary hobby, despite what most of the geeks around here will tell you. Anyway, no, I don't have one, but I'd LOVE to train with one. The closest I've gotten is a friend that let me train for a very brief period with his naginata. I did some boku on my own, but my only real professional training is with firearms (P, R, H), regular arms (unarmed combat), and long knives.

You are correct, the hook made it the ultimate weapon (on the ISLE anyway) against any horsed attack. The problem is that when the romans came, they weren't all that impressed with the knights. They figured out how to use pole arms and WOMPED the natives. Though to the credit (or is it detriment...) of your name sake, the Romans never really made it all the way into the highlands. Bottom line, "Ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid."

LOL! Yeah, it was ALMOST as effective (from an enginering point of view) as the (not-so)-Great Wall of China!

The Great wall might have worked if it stretched from the Pacific to the Mediterranean.

With the emergence of cannons, no wall could hold their own. Just take for instance Constantinople. :shady: I always sympathize with the Byzantines and thats why I get angry everytime I read about 1492 and the current idiocy in Iraq today. :stressed:

Its best to stop talking about politics right now before it gets to far.
