The good, the bad, and the holysoldier5000

Postby holysoldier5000 » Fri Apr 08, 2005 10:17 am

I’ve been posting here for a while. Getting to meet new friends. Some of which I would consider very good friends! But who is that masked man…I mean holysoldier5000?

Well let me sum it up this way: I am Christian…yes…a bible believing, God obeying, Jesus fallowing Christian. I have been so for 15+ years. Does that mean my life is easy? Golly-gee no!

I grew up in a good and Godly Christian family, my Dad being a minister. I was home-schooled all the way through…so I can say that I have never been to public school a day in my life. I am now going to collage to gain some degree in who knows what? (Haven’t decided.) But I have devoted my life to the service of the Lord. And God is revealing to me that his plan for my life is to work with and write for teenagers. So I am following God’s call and I am working on writing Christian fantasy/sci-fi/mysteries stories, as well as Christian apologetics for teenagers. I am also the Youth Leader at my church and we have a great teen ministry called S.O.S. (Servants of Salvation).

Growing up was hard and rough.

But it was a long hard journey to get where I am today. I have seen more then my share of troubles and tribulations. Growing up was hard. I have been in and out of more churches then I wish to count. When I was young my Dad was a pastor without a church. He would be called to pastor this church and that church but they were all alike: filled with legalist, judgmentalist, and hedonist. They treated my family awful and they gave me a view of the “churchâ€

Fearless

Postby holysoldier5000 » Sat Apr 09, 2005 2:40 pm

My theme song:

Fearless by Dc Talk

Haunted by a jaded past
Never thought that love could last
Hope was but a castaway at sea
Skepticism took it's toll
Closed the windows to my soul
Was fighting just to keep my sanity
When out of the noise I could hear You breathing
You came along knowing just what I needed
Turned me around and ya got me believin'
You would die for me

Now I'm fearless with nothing left to hide
All the doubts of yesterday, love has driven them away
And now I'm fearless when I am by Your side
It's forever me and You in this covenant of truth
Ya know I'm fearless...oh yeah

Patiently You stripped away
The walls of pride that I had raised
You revealed the child inside of me
We will run and not grow old
Soar on wings as I've been told
Together we will fly the heavenlies

Cause out of the noise I could hear You breathing
You came along knowing just what I needed
Turned me around and ya got me believin'
I would die for You

Some of us leave the vine
Some of us fall in line
All of us have a friend in Jesus
Some of us live in fear
Some of us persevere
Knowing that You are near me, I am fearless
Live your life, love the Lord, and don't forget to laugh...

I enjoyed your testimony tremendously. ^______^ Thank you. May I ask, what denominational church is your dad a pastor of? And, how did you become the youth minister of this church? Do you have any educational background in Bible or have you done any studies, lay or otherwise in seminary?

I hope you don't mind my questions.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

I appreciate your questions. Everyone is welcome to ask away.

To answer your questions, may sound a bit strange…but bear with me… My father is a Southern Baptist Minister who is now the pastor of a Brethren Church. But my father became an Ordained Brethren Minister just a few years ago…several years after he started pasturing the Brethren Church. But it is a pretty sorry Brethren Church because none of the members are actually Brethren. Most of the members are strays from other church that found a place of peace here in this church. We have everything from Lutheran to Methodist to who knows what else. My church is a place of welcoming for the outcast and never demands the members to join the domination. That is why I am still Non-Denominational. Actually that is the reason or church is quite separated from the Brethren Church District. Our acceptance of everyone has made us a rogue among the other dogmatic Brethren Churches. And there is no way we are going to associate with the District…their a bunch of loons!

As for education in Bible, I have several years of intense bible study, but no official schooling! And very little training. So how did I become the youth minister? Well let me answer it this way:

I have been assisting for several years, but I never thought I would one day take over…or more accurately get handed this position. My calling was one of those “don’t raise your hand to go to the bathroom during a church board meeting on the crisis of students!â€
