Favorite romance anime!

Postby eva-boy7985 » Thu Apr 14, 2005 11:59 pm

This thread or something similar to it may have been created sometime earlier but I can't remember so here it is (maybe again O.o). What's your favorite romance anime (movie or series)? While I haven't seen a ton, I have to say I especially like Voices of a Distant Star, Please Teacher and Please Twins, and Love Hina (at least I consider it romance for the most part). Chobits is pretty good too. Post your thoughts and opinions!

Hmmm....well my usual answer is hands down, Full Moon wo Sagashite and Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne....but I also thought that Fruits Basket is probably one of the best romantic comedies I've ever seen. So yeah, I'm gonna go with that one.

I'd have to go with Maison Ikkoku, Marmalade Boy, Kimagure Orange Road and the new Emma looks very promising.

Full Moon Wo Sagashite or Fruits Basket. Easy.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I'd say it's a toss-up between Sailor Moon and Millennium Actress. *shrug* (Though Hamtaro has a tiny bit in it too...)

Though i know that Kare Kano has some questionable content toward the end.. I would say this is a pretty romantic Anime..

I would say, Pretear, or Rurouni kenshin (more manga than anything)

Samurai X Trust and Betrayel.. (its a sad romance thing..)

Fruits Basket also has a lot of romance it in as well ^_^

Marmalade Boy, hands down. I would probably choose Comic Party as a close runner-up, and now that I'm watching Maison Ikkoku, Kimagure Orange Road, and Ranma 1/2 (I'm "rediscovering" it  ), I may have to start juggling my top pick around.

I'm just an anime romance/romantic comedy fan, all-around!

Ai Yori Aoshi hand down. A good story, some good comedy, and fantastic characters, as well as deeply touching romantic scenes and aspects. This is easily one of my top 3 anime series of all time. ^^

In terms of story line, how far apart are Ai Yori Aoshi and Ai Yori Aoshi Enishi? I've seen the first disc of Enishi and a little bit of the original series. I'm interested in buying them for sure...

Both are excellent, but the first series is better. Many have called Enishi a filler series. It doesn't progress as much in story, but it develops the characters more. It's definitely still worth it.

I'd put my money on Voices of a Distant Star. Though as complex as Saikano is, I'm willing to say that it shares a place in my romance favorites.

Definitely Ranma 1/2. KOR is good too, but only if you only count the TV series. IMO everything after that is garbage.

Eeep! I'm gonna have to go with Rurouni Kenshin on that one! ^_^ Even though it's not technically a romance series in and of itself, Kenshin and Kaoru make such a cute couple, so it's still great!! Of course, it IS my favorite series, after all...n_n

Air TV, one of my favorites so far. Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien, one of my top 10 but don't watch Air TV and this one back to back. Onegai series are awesome. Kanon, creators of Air TV, good anime with intresting story. Midori no Hibi, a funny but also serious/rommance anime. Final Approach, another funny but also serious/rommance anime. Chobits, was hilarious but also had rommance in it. Wind, a rommance anime. I know some people will not agree with me that this is a rommance anime but I think Ragnarok The Animation was a good one, a mixure of fighting and rommance.

I guess I am a sucker for rommance anime.

Seems like I disagree with Kae a lot. He probably groans every time he reads a post where I quote him.

However, he mirrors my opinion exactly. I may have posted those exact words if he had not done so first. Scared, kae?

I'm partial to Kodomo no Omocha myself. Seeing as the relationships are between a couple of 12 year olds, I guess it's kind of silly, but the story and characters are so good.

My vote goes towards: Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, Kimagure Orange Road and Ayashi no Ceres. All three have quite a good story. There are a few others, but those are the most memorable.

Edit: Oh, and of cousre Crest of Stars, and the last few episodes of Banner of Stars II. That series is another good series with a romantic aspect.

Yes. Very good. I thought I wouldn't like it because the art is so very 80's, but it was so very excellent I have no problem saying it is the best romance anime I have ever seen.
