Should I get Cowboy Bebop Box Set or Ghost In The Shell 2?

Postby starwarsboy90 » Fri Mar 25, 2005 7:15 am

Hey everybody,

I have another dilema again. I taped Cowboy Bebop almost 2 years ago. I have all of the Episodes, except for 3. My tapes are really starting to decay, Episodes 1,2 and 4 by the way. Should I get the Box Set of all 26 Episodes, or should I get Ghost In The Shell Movie 2, I did get movie one, it was great, but left me hanging enough for me to want to get movie 2. So, what should I do?

Ghost in the Shell 2. The Animation will blow you away. If you've seen Bebop, it can wait. ^_-

Haven't seen GitS 2 myself yet, but I agree: it would probably be better investing in something you haven't seen yet.

Cowboy Bebop. I'm not very interested in Ghost in the Shell, and I've rewatched my Bebop dvds; plus who knows what 3 episodes you could be missing!

The new boxset is not out till this summer. The current CB boxset is almost impossible to find for under $200. I don't know how many times I have to say but if you're looking at Ebay do not buy those cheap $20-30 ones they are bootlegs. Your best bet is to just buy the volumes individually. Unless you want to wait for the new Cowboy Bebop Remix that comes out this summer and will probably go for around $150.

Hmm, I found it for 70 Dollars, Cb anyways. Well, I have the money to get both, so I will. I love Bebop all the way, I'm missing Episode 24, 21 and 20. Since GITS Movie one left me hanging, I'll get Movie 2. Thanks for the advice guys!

I traded in my Bebop disks a year or so ago since I've watched the show to death and hoped to see it at a later time when it would be more 'fresh'. I'm looking particularily foward to the new boxset so I can enjoy the series again.

I really really really want the REMIX DVDs. I've heard they have American voice actor commentary...
Think happy thoughts.

Dude there's just no way it's legit at that price. Does it have Chinese subtitles or is it No Region or Region 0? Is it in a tri-fold box with 3 or 4 DVD's?

Well, the prices are completely different. You could get the set for a good amount of $$, and you could get Gits2 for about $20.

HOWEVER, I suggest NOT getting the GITS2 DVD right now. Dreamworkds goofed up on the DVD and they are Re-Releasing it (sometime this summer from what I hear). Yes, the movie is super awesome. Yes, the animation is awesome. But wait until the rerelease comes out.

The dvd that Dreamworks put out ONLY has the Japanese language. Now for many of you, including me, would say "cool, I only watch is subbed anyway. However, it does NOT include subtitles; only Captions.
What's the difference between captions and subtitles? Captions are for the hearing impaired. That means not only do you read the words, but it says crap like "cars honking", "eerie music", "birds chirping" etc. So that gets quiet annoying.

So for now, go for Bebop if you can find a decent price that is legit.

Wait for the Remix DVDs before you get Cowboy Bebop.
I can't recommend GitS 2 until I see it.

I bought the captioned version, and it was pretty annoying. BUT Dreamworks has released the regular subtitled version now. If U have the captioned version, you can trade it in for free and get the real one in about a month (I did it). But the subtitled can be found in stores as well. If it has "V4" on the spine, then it is the subtitled version and you're golden. If you buy the captioned one, then you can have it replaced by going HERE SO GO BUY IT!

Cowboy Bebop definately. My big bro bought GITS 2 and he didn't like that it was all in Japanese and not as much action but it was still a good movie. So buy CB now and wait until GITS 2 comes out in English - just a suggestion not trying to be bossy...
