Ok ok, someone mentioned superbook, and I suppose technically that WAS my first. But I didn't realize it was anime and nor did I ever make the connection that it was any different than a regular cartoon until someone mentioned it here at CAA years later. ^^

First anime was Pokemon (sadly) but my first once I recognized anime for what it was would be Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal (and then switched into Rurouni Kenshin: Tales of the Wandering Swordsmen)

My very first was Flying House. I would get them from my church library. Then in 1st grade I watched Voltron and Speed Racer on Cartoon Network. That was in the days of yore before even toonami. But the first anime that really got me into anime was Robotech. I watched it in second grade. Robotech was the show that made me say "hey Japanese cartoons are cool!". The rest is history.

Oh yeah, I know it isn't technically anime, but who here watched Johnny Quest? I watched the old and new ones with my brother when I was a little kid. That was back in the good ol' days of little kid'dom before American cartoons went to crap.

The first I saw was Sailor Moon, but I never really cared until I started watching Card Captors.

I watch both of them. I like the Newer ones better that they did in the late 90's.

I watched poke'mon way back in 5th grade. The first anime I got really involved in watching(and still am) is Inuyasha.
My mother likes anime because she used to watch speed racer, and had a crush on him, when she was younger ^ ^

My first anime was Digimon. I recently saw a couple season four episodes in Japanese, and it was a thousand times better. I see it a lot different ly now that I am a true anime fan.

Azier's History with Anime: Vol. 1 (Special Limited Edition)

Somewhere in the early mid-1990s (6-8 years old) : Azier watches Superbook and Flying House on a regular basis. Azier thinks that the animation and art is kind of bizzare and wonders why the characters frequently tend to have bizzare fainting spells and freaking huge mouths. At the time, Azier has no idea what anime is.

Late 1990's: Azier becomes one of those super obssessed Pokemon fanatics. Azier learns the word 'anime' for the first time. A year or so after coming down of his Pokemon high, Azier watches Dragonball Z for the first time. (The orginal, corny dub)

End of the 90's: Azier discovers Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy and becomes a full fledged RPG nut. Azier sees Gundam Wing for the first time, and realizing that the series contains the same kind of deep, on-going plots as an RPG, becomes an instant anime fan. Azier begins watching all sorts of different anime series' on TV: Ranging from Digimon, Tenchi, and Outlaw Star. Azier is on the path to being a true Japanphile.

Today: Anime is not merely a hobby for Azier, it's the ultimate form of entertainment. Azier still does not think that Dragonball Z sucks.

My very first...hmm. Probably Pokemon. The first anime where I realized it was anime was proabably DBZ or Yu-Gi-Oh!. My first REAL real anime was...FLCL. Um, yeah. I was twelve/eleven-ish. I taped it off Adult Swim on Saturdays.

EDIT:
<<Azier still does not think that Dragonball Z sucks.>>
Dragonball Z RULES. You just need to watch the uncut Japanese.
Think happy thoughts.

The first anime I remember seeing was Hello Kitty when I was five but I didn't realize it was anime then. Then I watched Sailor Moon and Robotech when I was around seven and for the longest time, thought it was Chinese until my cousin told me it's Japanese. Then Digimon came out and I was hooked.

I am sure that I watched some anime way back in the day but I am not going to count it because the reason I was watching it was because it was a cartoon, not because it was anime. Anyways.. my first anime, and the one that got me hooked, was Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal

First anime I rented was, "Tenchi Muyo in Love." Way before they started to show it on Cartoon network. TV wise... Probably Sailor Moon way back when it showed on the USAchannel; way before the Cartoon Network showing of it.

But Cowboy Bebop is what made me a fan of anime.

Speed Racer.

The series that actually got me interested in anime though was Last Exile.

Speed Racer! :D Though it kind of scared me. I mean...I was in first grade and I saw men with guns! And cars!

What got me into was Sailor Moon. Though I didn't watch it, I saw pictures and was like o.o!
