Change the IE title bar

Postby Mr. SmartyPants » Sat Mar 12, 2005 3:51 pm

there's a cool way to change the titlebar of windows internet explorer! My friend showed me this today!

you open up notepad

copy and paste the following into it

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]

"Window Title"="Micro$oft Intarweb Exploiter - So much of teh suck."

then save as iehack.reg (or anything for the matter)

then doubleclick to merge! and voila!

*note you can change the window title to anything you want to, just change what the window title equals

2 pictures of awesomness!

do that to any IE users in your house! XD

i believe it should work on any windows system... i know it works on xp and pretty sure it works on 2000, the regristry shouldnt change in each OS so im sure it's the same

and there is a program to safely remove IE, called IEradicate... i wouldn't recommend deleting it... it is a bit nesscessary for some pages and stuff...

You could also just navigate to the key in regedit and edit it.

I wonder if this would work on other programs... just think of it
Minesweeper to "teh squarez of d00m!!!11"
Calculator to "Replaced by TI-83"
ICQ to "Ih8U"
AOL to "AOhelL"
and the fun goes on and on...!

frwl went right where I did with this one...

I have an idea for "word" that rhymes with it, but wouldn't be appropriate for mixed company.

Since it likes to crash, how about "Micro$oft EggShell" (excel).

Before I merge it, how do I get into the registry? Can't you really mess up your computer with that?

Aww, it won't let me.

If you don't know what you're doing, yeah.
But that's like everything else in life.

whatever you do, don't delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE ... doing so does wonders for killing spyware tho.

OK. Let's be blunt on this one: PLEASE DON'T MESS WITH THE REGISTRY IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. If you were to accidentally hit the wrong key (say, DELETE) on your keyboard, you can remove the highlighted row, which could render your computer unable to boot. IF you know what you are doing AND you are comfortable living with the risks, by all means go a head.

Consider yourself warned. ;)
