Could someone who have seen this tell me a little about it? Is it good? Does it include many objectionable elements?

It is a very short and concise work (only 25 minutes long) and I highly recommend it. It deals with a young lady who joins the military to go off into space to fight. The young man she loves fails to be accepted. They remain in communication by use of a cell phone like device. However, the further from earth she gets, the longer it takes their text messages to reach one another. It is hard to describe how so much emotion can be elicited in such a short title, but without any real character development your heart really goes out for this couple. The animation, music and story are beautiful. There is nothing objectionable in the title and I only remember once where she refers to another girl in a term that is not too favorable. My daughter loves Voices Of A Distant Star and it's one of my favorites too.

And slight amount of blood here and there during mech fights, but probably was necessary, and is executed without overdoing it.

Otherwise, excellent anime to watch. Quite sad, actually.

Check the review section. There's a complete content analysis there.

I really loved this movie. It's definitely worth seeing.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

There's no objectional content. It's very short, but it's a great film, especially considering it was all done on one guy's laptop. It's definitely worth seeing.

If I remember right, the DVD had some other shorts in it too (something about a girl and her cat comes to mind). And since it's so short, you can always watch it in dubs AND subs and see which one you prefer!

Voices of A Distant Star=Brilliant. Buy. Now.

There are three versions of She and Her Cat, an interview with the creator, and trailers & such. Very worth getting, even if it is only 30 minutes. The sub is superior.

I was bored to tears by this movie, and as it so happens the voice actors were just as bored as I was with this with their quiet uninterested voice acting.:eyeroll:

This is a little odd for me...I usualy don't post in the aniem section much...

VOADS is absolutely excellent I also cried the first time I watched it...and the second time...and...okay...the thrid tie I sniffled a bit. But I'm not the super sappy type, and I thoroughly enjoyed the romance story.

Another interesting element of this movie is that one guy drew the whole thing.

I've never seen this, but I've heard a lot of good reviews on it (not just here), but I did see She and Her Cat (I think like 5 minutes or so long), which was a VERY simple, but very heartwarming, short.

I think Yojimbo reflects the sentiments of many action/sci-fi fans. It looks like it's a mech-bashing piece, but it is not. There are a couple of fight scenes, but they are not enough if they are what you are looking for.

That said, this is a fantastic tale. I would not have thought so much character development and emotion could be packed into so short a time frame. The story and the music are very compelling, probably the best short I've ever seen and one of my favorite anime.

I personally thought it sucked. I am a big mecha fan and I rented it at Blockbuster thinking it was going have some hardcore giant robot action. But it is just a depressing and sappy love story about a guy who is never going see his girlfriend again. And by the way, I didn't even finish it. They took God's name in vain so many times I stopped.
Bottom Line: If you are a hardcore giant robot fan such as myself and are looking for a Gundam or Macross-esque adventure, don't get it.
If you like love stories and romantic-type stuff you might want to give it a try. Oh, BTW, just a warning, they take God's name in vain a bunch of times.

Just my two cents.

That's why I loved it ^_^ It wasn't even a giant robot anime but a romance story. I don't recall them taking God's name is vain alot but the cuss words isn't as much as other anime save for the b-word they threw in.

I'm not just interested in action. A love story is nice, if it's good...
No reason to say it sucked just because you are one of these that just wants action (no offence). If you say it sucks, tell why, and don't comment with such things as it wasn't enough action, as others may like it because of that. After all it's romance, not a giant robot mech thing :\
