The Cat Returns

I picked this up at the same time that I purchased Nausicaa and Porco Rosso. Of the three I would have to say that this one is my favorite. It has a great voice cast: Anne Hathaway (Princess Diaries, Ella Enchanted), Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride) Peter Boyle (Father on Everybody Loves Raymond). The animation is a tad different from many of the other Studio Ghibli titles and of course the movie does not boast the Miyazaki name, but it's a wonderful story. This would be a great addition for the children and I highly recommend it.

I just find it odd that they'd release a movie, which is technically a sequel to another movie, first in English. I wonder which one is the better?

I really enjoyed Whispers of the Heart. I'll probably rent this one to see how it compares.

I saw it last week, ironically because a friend picked it up when she got it mixed up with Whispers of the Heart. Good voices on the English version. I especially liked Miss Hathaway's performance.

Even as a sequel this it stands alone well by itself.

What's it a sequel of? I thought it was Spirited Away...
Heart of Sword's Rhapsody

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!

The character of The Baron also has a role in Whispers Of The Heart.

I heard that it was supposed to be the story that the girl wrote in Whispers of the Heart.

I liked Porco Rosso better than The Cat Returns and I think I'll like Nausicaa better than both, however I still really enjoyed The Cat Returns. I wish Disney had released Whisper of the Heart first since I came before TCR, however, while the films have ties to each other, it doesn't seem like you need to see them in any particular order.

I watched this yesterday with my brother and liked it a lot. It did not look terribly interesting, but with all those cats, it was amazing. Especially for a cat-crazed girl like me. I'm planning to watch the Japanese version later this week.
