In need of comprehenseive FLCL review!

I'd like to know in detail what the bad content is in this anime(not including language and violence). Also, if there's any positive points/morals? Thanks a ton! :thumb:

FLCL.....how to explain it? It's unique, and definitely a genre of its own. Other than language and violence, there's very little to complain about (minor fan service is about it).
FLCL is definitely a love-or-hate series....initially it seems like just a mindless marathon of random thoughts and ideas that the staffers threw together, but it's definitely something much more (honestly, you'll have to watch it several times through to even scratch the surface of the plot [and there is one] and all the other hidden messages that the staffers throw at you).

Anyhow, the animation is grade-A...it's VERY well done, and the CGI (like the matrix shots) are perfect. It spoofs both Lupin III and South Park (clean), which is hilarious. In fact, every scene is nothing but a gut busting laugh-out-loud (either that or you'll hate it and just scratch your head). The voice acting is excellent as well, both English and Japanese, which is rare (I'd recommend English, because they talk so fast subtitles just aren't convenient). The plot, although virtually impossible to understand after the first watch, IS comprehendible. The characters are very 3-dimensional, and their personalities are perfect in driving the 'story' forward. Often their personalities are used as a representation to forward the theme, and two characters in particular I think purposely were meant to contrast in virtually every way. (Ex. Naota the protagonist is onlyquiet 12 year old kid who tries acting mature, serious, and "cool" in every situation; aka, an adult. Haruko is suposedly 19, but she's a loud, wild party animal, wielding an electric guitar and riding a vespa; she acts like an immature kid.)

(suddenly this is turning into more of an analysis than a review, oopsie...)

This series throws so much hidden messages, morals, symbolism, and themes at you it's hard to even pick out ONE of them, but they are there. One of the major themes is simply the struggle of kids growing up and becoming serious adults in society. [taken from HERE *click* ....Even lines that seem to be random and obscure often are a symbol of something deeper.

I guess the downsides to it, like I said, it's love-or-hate. Most likely because it's probably one of the most RANDOM and CONFUSING things you'll ever see...haha.

I can go on and on in an in-depth analysis about this series, but that would be overdoing it...perhaps another day. But in short, I recommend this series totally, if you aren't into that deep metaphorical stuff, then just watch it for laughs, that works too.
