Well, many American companies [I won't presume to speak about Viz until they actually do anything] are very nervous on the subject of sexuality, and someone so pointlessly androgynous (you must admit, it doesn't add anything to the plot) might be changed simply to eliminate that.
But while I agree that Haku is in no way homosexual, I don't think it will be seen that way. [spoiler]He and Zabuza are pretty good friends, and in his dying speech Zabuza does touch his face.[/spoiler] That doesn't mean anything, but the homosexual worldview in general does not understand friendship.
