Oh, do we even want to know how terrible the VAs for this project will be?
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Yep, it's about time... It's been in bidding for a long time. Though, don't be surprised to pay an arm and leg for the dvd's, the bidding price was quite high, plus with a 120+ episodes.... Cha-ching..

As long as the DVDs have a Japanese subbed track, I'm happy, I really do want to try this one.

and then the narutards invaded the lands and bring forth terror...

9 year old narutard: "OMGZORZ!!!111 naruutoe is a genin!!!11"

me: "omg, naruto became hokage and died for konoha and the series ended"
*didn't really happen*

9 year old narutard: "NUH UH! HE's A GENIN! I SAW EPISODE 2 YESTERDAY!!!!!!!!"

me: "i finished episodes 382-395 yesterday on my computer"

narutard: "NUH UH! ONLY CARTOON NETWORK HAS IT"

...

it's bound to happen

plus. I HATE how they changed stuff into "evil eye, journeyman = chuunun, and valentine technique" in the manga. Bound to appear in the dvds too

Well, since Viz has the license the dubbing will most likely be done by Ocean Group. I would imagine you will see Richard Cox very high on the cast list, maybe even Naruto. I doubt they will go much higher than the normal 3 episodes per volume that Inu Yasha gets. Viz does the manga for this series so that may be an idication as to how this will be treated.

Let's do the math on this one, shall we? There are 120 episodes fansubbed currently, right? With an obscenely generous FOUR episodes per $25.00 dollar volume, you'll only be shelling out. . . WOW! Only 750 dollars for the whole thing (that's the figure before tax, of course)!

Gee, you'd think the DVDs were made of platinum or something with what they charge. *shakes fist*

Which is probably why, although I hear lots of good things about the series, I'll probably skip it...or borrow the fansubs from a friend. They released Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R on DVD...almost 90 episodes, and the grand total for both sets was $300. That, I can deal with, but not the insane prices they're charging for three-episode DVDs.

I agree. <.< II >.>

Far to expensive for the average anime collector. If need be, I'll wait until it's released on CN, because a series that popular and that length usually ends up there anyways *cough*DBZ, FMA, Cowboy bebop*cough*

That's why I'm a really big fan of anime OVA's which only contain 3-13 episodes total.

Well, each boxset of Ranma (22-25 episodes), also published by Viz, cost around $100-$110, so you do the math.

Ahh, the link isn't working! But it's awesome news that Naruto has finally been licenced. I've been waiting for this for like 2 years. Still, like everyone else, I'm hoping they don't mess things up too bad.

Interesting. I will have to see how this is handled. There have been some dubs that have been very good, so I'm not terribly pessimistic, but I'm not familiar with any of this company's work. What I hope is that they get a good Kakashi voice; most of the other Japanese voice actors are nothing exceptional.

Keep in mind that it is likewise annoying when someone who has seen an entire series talks about the ending while you're only watching in English.

Naruto is licensed! Yay?

Question for the Japanese inclined: I've heard some complaints about the English manga translations of the attack names. I agree that the Japanese names sound more serious and exotic to my foreign ears, but I've also heard that the names are not nearly as esoteric in Japanese and actually contain a few tongue-in-cheek cultural references much in the spirit of the English translations. I can see this in "byakugan" -- is "white eyes" really that much more cool than "evil eye?" As for cultural references, isn't "Ino-Shika-Chou" a reference to an old folk tale or something? I've also heard that "shintenshin no jutsu" was translated as "Valentine attack" or something like that because something about the Japanese name links it to a playing card with a heart on it. I guess what I'm really asking is, how serious were these names intended to be?

Well, I google searched it, and it seems that ShoPro and Viz combined (or one took over the other). I looked on their site, and they dubbed anime such as Inuyasha, Hamaro and Megaman GT...

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.
