Anime Music Video Tutorial?

Some pointers:

Try and find something new. As in a song and anime combo no one has done before that goes well. Unless you find a AMV that has the same combo but sucks, try and best it. For instance I found a Cowboy Bebop AMV to the song "Call me Call me" which appears during the series. It seriously sucked and I think I could do a better job at it so I decided to go with it.

Don't use alot of special effects. It clutters your video and doesn't present what you are doing the video for....the anime. Sometimes it works (for instance I have Naruto and Hllsing AMV that is loaded with special effects but it goes well cause of the song).

Unless you're lypsincying, don't waste your time with talking UNLESS you have subtitles up. Sometimes the subtitles will drive the point of your video. But if it's just people talking, youre viewers will not get what they are saying.

Come up with an original idea.

Make sure the music fits the anime.

Synch the anime to the song (IE; what's happening should match the beats of the song)

Spend some time on it. Don't throw it together in one afternoon.

Stay away from special effects as mush as possible.

DO NOT have any logos(CN, adult swim, etc.)showing.

DO NOT have any subtitles appear in the video.

Make sure the footage is high-quality.

I'd usually agree unless they have something to do with the music. Like for instance to explain the story so that the person understands which relates to the music.

I was really talking from a technical standpoint. What software to use, how to use it, etc.

For really basic videos, use Windows Movie Maker2. If you have windows XP, you most likely have WMM2. Check around for it.

For fancy-shmancy stuff, you'll want Adobe Premiere(which is very hard to use).

To get the footage, don't download it. Get yourself a DVD ripper from the internet. Try DVD2AVI.

Also, if you can help it, don't use mp3s, rip the music from CDs. Windows Media Player can do this.

Also, when ripping DVDs, make sure you set it not to "interlace" the footage, or you'll get some nasty quality.

I agree DVD2AVI is a great program to convert .vob to .avi.

I like to use DVD Decrypter to rip stuff from DVD's. I used one before called Smart Ripper but I prefer this more.

One place I got stuck at was compressing which was in due to my computer's set up at the time as well as the software. Hopefully with my new laptop, it will work.

I did actually take episodes I downloaded from the internet for a Naruto video which turned out very nice. I prefer ripping though.
