I think it should've gotten a 9/10 for violence, but...whatever. There aren't any guts or anything. Just volcano people..........

Maybe a 1/10 for sexual content though because of that freaky drunk guy grabbing the girl by the wrist and saying "I'd love to open up your borders. Let's have a cultural exchange, shall we?" I mean, it wasn't that bad and the guy was evil and got his tail kicked inside-out by Shigure, but I think that counts.

That sounds like a typical ADV dub :stressed:
Make it crude and tacky when they can't give it a 13+ rating.

And on that point, I'd probably disagree on the review saying it was OK for 14 and up. I think it was violent enough to warrant an R rating.

I'd have to dig it out to see what the sub said, but I think it was something less crass.

I may have been comparing it too closely too the OVAs when rating the violence. For me it takes more than ample amounts of blood to rate something a nine. I raise the rating based on the brutality and extent of the violence, not the amount of blood drawn. I considered the movie only mildly worse than the more graphic scenes in the TV series, so that's why I gave it a 14 for age.

Heart of Sword may have a point about the sexual content though. I didn't think of that part, and I tend to pay more attention to the subs, except to watch for language.

Oh. Well compared to the OVAs, the movie's like PG rated at the most. o_O

I would say that the first OVA eps were excessively gory, like they were trying to compete with Ninja Scroll or something.

Both would probably get an R rating, but this shows there are degrees of violence.

I didn't think the OVAs were anywhere close to Ninja Scroll.

Not in sex, but the violence in "Trust" was way up there. It's as if the managers told the artists they couldn't have any new paint until they finished up the rest of the reds... ;)
