FREE anime magazines, promo dvds, and misc.

As many of you may have figured out, I like anime. I've liked it for many years. This often leads to chronic collecting and squirreling away anime paraphernalia because "I might need it for art reference one day." Heh. Well, I've decided that it will be healthy for me if I trim down and focus my areas of collecting a little. For example, I started collecting the Tokyo Mew Mew manga, but then I fell behind and no longer wish to spend the cash to catch up. I could put all this stuff on ebay, but honestly, it's not worth the trouble setting up auctions and trying to squeeze pennies out of it. I'd get much more of a kick giving it to you guys and making some CAA members happy, so that's what I'm doing. It's all free, but please read the rules. I know, I hate rules too, but I had to write them.

RULES
Your post count must be above 100. This site is huge now, but anyone who has been around for 100 posts, I'll know. A few exceptions may apply, but it's going to be my call, as I have the right to refuse any request for any reason. Please PM me if you feel like you should be an exception to this rule.

You MUST be 16 or older to request anything, but don't worry if you're younger. All I need is an email from your parents/guardian saying that they've read my disclaimer and it's ok for you 1. be in possession of these magazines/posters/dvds and 2. giving out a shipping address. Yes, this could easily be forged, but then it turns into your problem and not mine since I have taken all the proper precautionary steps for your behalf.

Please make your request on the thread. If you make your request in the thread, others can see what's spoken for and what's not. I'll try to mark it as I go to help in this area.

Please take note of the amount of each thing you're allowed to request. There will be no exchanges made for weight purposes. Example: You may not request 3 extra Animerica in place of 1 Newtype because the weights are roughly equivalent. This will only complicate things.

Families, take heart! The one per household rule does not apply! Every member is considered as their own person. However, if it's no trouble, I'll probably end up combining the packages if they're all going to the same place. ^^

Please request only 3 things per person total.
For shipping purposes:
Shipping is taken care of, please don't try to give me money, I will be highly insulted. ;) If you want to thank me, then a nice email or even snailmail will do wonderfully. ^^

Please request only 1 Newtype per person (this is subject to change). It's a rather thick magazine. ^^

All address exchange will be handled off-site. DO NOT send me your home addresses in a PM, only send me your personal email address and I will contact you.

I have no problem shipping to your (or your parent's) work address if you don't feel comfortable giving out your home address.
DISCLAIMER

As many of you know, these magazines/dvds are going to have some content that does not comply with CAA standards. CAA is not to be held responsible for this content, and neither am I. In general, all things listed below are used, but I'll do my best to mention any damage or wear that I see. By requesting an item, you are agreeing to not hold me or CAA responsible for inappropriate material/images, or damage of items.

Wizard's Anime Invasion (2 per person)
Notes: I'll be filling in featured article lists later. Wizard isn't the best anime source around - many errors can be found in their ill-researched articles. But, they include a lot of humor and fun facts - most of which you'll already know. (How many times to we need the word "otaku" and "baka" explained to us, anyway?)

#2 Spring 2002, Goku cover (old, so print from stacked books makes the cover look dirty)

#4 Fall 2002, Shining Gundam cover

#7 June 2003, young Goku cover

#11 January 2004, Rei Ayanami cover

Newtype (1 per person)
Notes: Ok, here's the deal. None of these are in their complete form. When I buy a Newtype, the dvd gets taken out and stored in a real case and the full sized poster is put in a folder. Also, this is important, several months ago I went through my entire collection of magazines and cut out pictures of my favorite characters/shows/games to use for decoration. This means that some pages, perhaps all or parts of some articles, are gone. I apologize for this - if I had know that I was going to give this stuff away, I would not have damaged the magazines. I will check to make sure that the featured material is still there before I send it to you and inform you accordingly. Also, any centerfold that I found to be extremely raunchy was put in the garbage where it belonged.

Ohhh wow this is quite alot you're giving away here that's pretty generous.:) Ok well I did the Jin-Roh review. Does the Animerica issue with the Jin-Roh promo poster still have it in there? If so then I'd like that one, the November 2004 issue of Animerica, and the August 2004 issue of Newtype.

Thanks

It's not really the amount of stuff I have that's the issue right now - it's stuff that I'd like to see other people get use out of.

Nah, I was just getting tired of carrying it with me when I move. ;)

That is indeed a lot of items :O

But fact is, I don't exactly need any of those above items. Maybe except the Newtype 2003 November edition with Rei Ayanami centerfold. I'll wait and see if any of the reviewers want it first; I already have enough Rei objects in my room. *stares at Rei plushie*

I suddenly realized that I didn't fully explain why I mentioned users 200 posts and up. Normally, post count doesn't mean a status symbol or anything around here, but I felt it necessary that I add that so no one would join CAA just for free stuff.

I hope everyone understands - I'm not trying to make the new members feel badly, honest I'm not.

*EDIT* Lorentz, I've put your name and the date of your request on my off-site list, just to let you know. ^^

I did originally want to speak up and claim some specific items, but I realize that:
1) I'm not a reviewer, at least not yet anyway (I've been slacking).
2) I'm just grateful to get anything.

That being said, I will let others chime in for what they would like, and if at the end of this process, if some stuff isn't claimed for some reason, then and only then will I request something.

Thanks Gypsy, and by the way...this is a very cool idea. Giving away free swag is a nice way to reward reviewers for their hard work. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not 100% sure off the top of my head, but I think it mostly features Ayato. I'll check when I go home and get back to you on that.

I have no idea who that is. I only heard that it was a mecha show. I know almost nothing about it. Just reserve that poster for someone who would appreciate it more like Warrior 4 Jesus.

Tell you what, my daughter is into the tough women thing right now and I think Sakura Wars fits into that so I'll put my bid on that poster instead if it's not taken along with the Pita Ten volume 1.

This is very generous of you, Gypsy! Well, I suppose that if the Gundam Last Outpost manga isn't taken, I would appreciate that. And maybe the Di Gi Charat DVD from Newtype, if no one has called dibs on it.

How very generous Gypsy! Not only for offering your possessions to the members for free, but also willing to pay the shipping costs to get it to them?! Though I can’t say I’m too surprised at your kindness.

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Oooh! I wrote two reviews (Spirited Away and Tokyo Godfathers)!

Could I request the Gundam volume if no one's beat me to it? My baby brother (okay, so he's not a baby) has been nagging me--- I mean-- asking me for some manga, but I only have girly stuff. I figure Gundam might be a nice way to start his fandom. But if it's already claimed, I totally understand.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I PMed you, Kisa.

The list has been updated, everything that was previously spoken for is off the list - so everything you see is still up for grabs. Please be sure to read the age and post count rules (post count has been lowered to 100). If you don't have enough posts, but you still really want something, please PM me about it and we'll work something out - again, this rule was mainly to keep floater members from getting something that I'd rather give to a regular member.

Those who have already requested items should be getting a PM to confirm your requests and instructions on how to send me your address. If your age is not shown in your profile, I'll be requesting it before I send you anything.

All that being said, everything else is now first come, first serve. I'd really like to see this stuff getting some use, so I'll even rename the title of the thread so catch those who overlooked the vague title before (which was on purpose, btw. ;))

EDIT: Those who have requested before today, If you did not get a PM from me concerning shipping addresses then I've goofed and left you out. Please contact me about it as soon as possible.
