Figure 17

Postby Kenshin17 » Sun Jan 30, 2005 9:14 pm

OK, I had been sort of looking at this anime for quite awhile now without ever renting it. But today I had to work in the back room at work and it has a DVD player so I could watch TV while I worked. I of course wanted to watch anime and so I decided to give the show a shot since it was free  Well I can safly say I have a new show to add to my library. Incidently we just got the complete box set for this show. I wish I had 50 bucks to blow on it.

I like the shows inocent nature. It has no cursing the violence is reletivly bloodles and not overly brutal. Though one of the characters does get (bloodlessly) run through with alarming frquency. Overall after the first disk I am hooked. I will definatly be watching this one.

Betcha didn't know that if you combine two little cute girls you get one big cute girl, that kicks butt ;)

Well anyone else watch this one? Thoughts?

Yeah, I've been looking at Figure 17 for a while and debating to see it or not. I mean, it's been on my must rent list but never got around to renting it because I was a bit afraid to. I thought it always looked to have an interesting story premise. Overall, most of the reviews I've read seem to say it's quite a nice show/series. After I finish renting and watching the rest of the Kaleido Star series I think it's about time for me to just give Figure 17 a shot. Thanks for the reassurance in the series. :P

Edit: Oh, also I heard that Figure 17 will be released in a cheaper box set in the near future. Anyone know anything about that?

Yes, the box set is now out. I highly recommend this title. It definately is not for everyone. It is slow paced throughout and is very character driven. While there is some action woven into the plot the overall show is not overpowered by it. I always recommend it to people who would like to know what rural life in Japan is like. While it was airing there only one episode a month was played and each episode is 45 minutes long. The show never loses it's charm and can be very emotional as the girls face some of the realities of life. I think I mentioned this one in the underrated thread. It's a shame people put off seeing it (like I did for awhile) because they see the 7 and up rating and think it may be too childish. It's not. It's a great watch from start to finish.

I agree with Rev. Doc. I have not seen the show all the way through but have seen most of it. It's very touching and cute, and the characterization is great, especially with the two girls. It was slow-moving at times in terms of the usual anime "action", but definitely at least worth a rent, especially if you enjoy touching, cute storylines. ^___^

well I got like I thought I would the box set in the mail today, and wow.... I was shocked by the box set...
It's not really a box set at all, It's all 6 dvd's implanted into one dvd case, and it's really strange.

Anyways hehehe yeah I had them all on fansub but I never got around to watching them, I had a vary good feeling that it would be a good anime though. With each episode being 45 minutes long... I know they must put alot of story into each episode.

I've seen Figure 17 for rent at Hastings around here but it's volume three I think. I prefer to see a series from the beginning just to make sure I can follow the story. But from the comments here I definitely want to see it.

Yeah!! Go Hastings!!!

I'm glad the Hastings I work at is a large one. We have all the volumes for rent I believe. I fully plan to rent all the volumes. I don't have to worry about nudity and fanservice if the first volume is any indicator. Very nice.

This one is on my list. I've seen the first episode of the series (thank you, Newtype) and was pretty interested. I'm happy to hear good reports about it.
