Anyone seen Mao-Chan?

I saw some dvds on Amazon.com and it looked... well.... interesting. I am a big mecha/action/adventure fan and I've just finished Final Fantasy Fantasy:Unlimited. But I've been thinking about trying something different for a change. It sounded like a magical girl anime for little kids and the cover was all girly and stuff. But it had a  TANK  on the front cover. So it kinda' got my attention. The reviews said it was all right for little kids so I'm not worried about content or anything like, but I am curious. Does it have tanks and fighter-planes and guns and explosions and stuff. Is it like a kiddy version of Sailor Moon with a militaristic touch? It might be just what I've been searching for. Anyway, please let me know if you have seen it! Thanks in advance. :thumb:

I've seen the first 7 episodes and there really isn't too much violence at all to it.... I don't recall any explosions at all. Of what i've seen the girls just tend to give things a little tiny bonk on the head.
and no i wouldn't compare it to sailor moon... seeing as there special suits don't give them any special ability's or anything.

But I haven't seen the complete series yet. Though I do own the complete series. But of what I have seen, I can't say it's an Anime I would recommend.
It's Kinda boring. I think the three girls are incredbly adorable... But there really isn't much from what I can see to actually recommend it to someone.
I don't mean to be too critical and I know someone's gonna come on here and say I'm being too critical.

Anyways if you are looking for a mecha anime and only Mecha anime or lots of action or whatever, I'd say you should avoid this anime.
Goes to thoughs who also must have a decent storyline.

However if you just want to see a bunch adorable characters which even myself I LOVE adorable characters... then give it a try.

Basic storyline: Earth is invaded by super cute aliens. In order for the military not to appear to be a bully they need someone equally cute to battle them. Mao who is the granddaughter of the commander of the army is selected to defend the earth. She is in time aided by two other girls her age who happen to be the granddaughters of the commanders of the navy and air force. Each are given weapons (tank, jet, sub) in accordance to their branch of service. Actually, there is more fighting among the grandfathers as to which girl should be sent to battle then there is fighting aliens. The tank is given a personality and one of the most enjoyable aspects of the show is watching it express itself.

This isn't a deep show by any means, but it was a fun, clean watch. It's by the same creator of Love Hina but they are definitely different. If you have seen that series you will see cameos of Tama chan the turtle and Naru in Mao Chan.

Is it ever. Not even close to similar.

If you're looking for a hard sci-fi mech bashing adventure, this isn't it. It is beyond cute though and more than a little strange. I like it, but I'm kinda strange myself.

I guess I'll pass. This doesn't seem like my type of anime. But thanks anyway.
