Best Openings In Anime Series?

Postby Ichigo_89 » Wed Jan 26, 2005 6:20 am

Which animes series do you think has the best opening (animation & song).
I know this is pretty tough once you think about it, but try anyways.

For me it'd have to be GITS:Stand Alone Complex and Last Exile.

I'll have to agree Last Exile is very good. I'd throw in Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar's opening "Sugar Baby Love" as one of my favorites.

Gundam Wing.

I'm not a huge fan, but the Fullmetal Alchemist intro is cool.

Big O.

Speed Racer.

The second Shin Getter intro.

Gundam Seed, third opening song/animation is one of my favorites. I'm also rather partial to the first Rurouni Kenshin opening. Finally, I think Blue Gender's opening song (in English, no less) and animation are wonderful.
I'm a shoe-in for hater of the year.

I have to agree that Ghost in the Shell's opening is pretty awesome. Nice song too.

A few more:
Dual: Parallel Trouble Adventure - Bubblegummy...almost too much so
Eden's Bowy - Very catchy piano part, also interesting artwork there too.

Full Moon wo Sagashite (season 1-- "I <3 U" not "Rock'n Roll Princess")
DNAngel (True Light)
Cowboy Bebop (Tank!)
Angelic Layer (Be My Only Angel---the second ending "aemaertu" I believe was also EXTREMELY good--it was so cute to see all the deuses asleep with their angels)

Kiseki no Umi- Maaya Sakamoto (Record of Lodoss War: Chronicles of the Heroic Knight)

Oooo, I LOVE this song!

DNAngel's OP is abso-freakin'-lutely beautiful. Other OPs that top my list would be Kyou Kara Maou (can't remember the name of the song, but it fits the mood of the series perfectly), Escaflowne (Yakusoku wa Iranai), and Outlaw Star (Through the Night). But my favorite anime OP, in both musi cand visuals, would go to Tactics. xD; The first time I saw it I was on the floor seizuring in joy.

For EDs, my vote for best ending sequence goes to Matantei Loki Ragnarok. Believe in Heaven is such a pretty song! *o*/

Wheee, I agree! Also, GITS: SAC, Wolf's Rain, and Azumanga Daioh. Endings, I like Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain ("Been a long road to follow/Been there and back tomorrow..."), and FLCL. Did you know that Vespa is the director's? ^^
Think happy thoughts.

Stand Alone Complex (my friend told me that was a mix between Latin, Greek, and English). The best opening sequence ever in my opinion.
Cowboy Bebop - Tank rocks
Witch Hunter Robin - Shell
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Zankoku na Tenshi no Te-ze (Thesis of a Cruel Angel)
and
RahXephon - Hemisphere

Russian, Latin, and English :P

on the TV versions, i'd say Inner Universe and Rise (from 2nd GIG) are pretty equal in awesomeness, but for the full version I prefer Rise.

and you cant go wrong with Asterik (*) from BLEACH.

The openings from Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal Panic, Stand Alone Complex, and Trigun, but I think Cowboy Bebop has gotta be my favorite. ^_^

Yeah, Last Exile had a rockin' opening song. But I must admit, while it may have lacked the artistic merit of some of hte aforementioned titles, there's a special place in my heart for the opening theme to Full Moon. Rock on, "Rockin' Roll Princess!"
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

"ready steady go" is AWESSSSSOMMME!! I love that song!! Anyone go to otakon and see Larc perform?

"Inner Universe" from Stand alone complex gives me the chills.

The gundam seed song that TM revolution sings is also very cool!
