Hear, hear!
Some churches are having a really hard time trying to appeal to both young and old, "modern" and traditional. I don't know how to resolve that problem, except that we
all need to be flexible. It's not about having our own way; it's about loving one another and serving God. Some churches try to solve the issue by having a service with traditional music, and a seperate one with more contemporary music. That's okay, but it tends to segregate the congregation instead of bringing all kinds of people together.
My church is pretty small, but it spans many different demographics. Several different races, a wide range of ages, differing worldviews and political beliefs.... And we all love each other. It's quite amazing. As for the music, it has a wide range also. We do some traditional hymns, some contemporary choruses, some music that laypeople have written, a variety of styles, etc. It's the healthiest church I've ever seen, overall.
I don't know if I answered your question, ninja, but I thought I'd throw in my $.02.
