Arina Tanemura petition

Postby Kisa » Sun Jan 23, 2005 10:36 am

Hey all you Tanemura fans!
I am trying to get together a list of names of people who want things like Full Moon wo Sagashite licensed and released in English in their manga and anime forms. If you would like to help out please say so in here (post a "name" I can list (doesn't have to be real, make one up if you like). I will send it in to several of the anime companies and see what happens! I have already emailed them so lets try and get this. You all should email them too! Here's a list of the ones I emailed already:
Pioneer/Geneon
ADV
Viz
Tokyo Pop
If theres any I left out please list them and contact them as well! I got motivated for this after I saw some really good AMVs of FMWS.
I'll start the petiton:

Well you can still get it in Japanese, this is for people who get tired of reading subtitles, like me.... it also helps promote Tanemura's name and get more fans.... If they do a good job of it like some companies with other animes, then it won't be a problem! ^_^
I just wanna see it sooo bad and not have to read through all the subtitles.... lol

I dunno...

I cringe at the thought of a Full Moon dub. I think it would be absolutely horrendous. Unless they kept the songs in Japanese, but I doubt they would, so I'm sure the English versions of the songs would suck. Especially Takuto's song.

I would support Full Moon being licensed in the States if and only if they refused to dub it...but since I doubt that'll happen...

I know animes that are very well dubbed and kept the songs in english! If they do it that way?
Guess this was a bad idea.....

Aw...I'm sorry...I didn't mean to make you cry... :(

It's just...I can't think of a single anime series where the English version of the songs were just as good. In fact, every series I've seen, the English version of the songs is enough to make your ears bleed. *Coughrobotechandsailormooncough*

I'm not against dubs usually, in fact, I think the Ranma 1/2 dub is VASTLY superior to the original Japanese...it's just that such a song-intensive anime would be ruined if it were put into English and the songs were translated. In my opinion.

Kisa, I'll stand behind you, but with a request. Please, please, please do not let Viz or Tokyopop get their filthy hands on Tanemura. The only ones I trust to keep the music and the Japanese intact for the DVDs are Geneon, ADV and Bandai - I mean, they would even release the original soundtrack like they did with Gundam Seed (T.M. Revolution rocks! ). If you promise not to send any petitions to the anti-Japanese American distributors, then I'll agree to go on your list.

2. chloe ^____^

And, everybody be nice to Kisa -she's my friend.

Now, I am a bit of the anti-dub community that Sunako speaks of. I think they call us anime elitists z(*^*)z

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Yes, I'd want them to license it, but I'd prefer to keep the sub. The japanese voice actors are just so awesome. To me, there can be no substitutes. (Plus, Myco rocks!)

You know, Kis, you might ask Kokoro where she set up her petition. That would be easier and it would look more offical.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I just want the Full Moon manga in English. I hate reading scanlations on the computer; I have a tiny hard drive and they take up too much space. and some scanlations are really subpar.

so, I guess I'll add my name to the list too.

YAY Thanks Chloe, I was feeling pummled there for a bit.... normally I am picky with dubs as well so I understand what everyone means, but if whoever does a great job then more power to them.... I agree about ADV and Geneon doing better tho, lol.
Osaka, kokoro hass a petition already?! Ah, I'm so sorry! If anyone knows the link please post it!
Next time I think I'll wait for someone else to bring this up.... O_o

Didn't your mother ever teach you guys not to make a girl cry...(jk ;) )

Well Kisa I have never heard of those before other then on the boards. However I am a fan of dubbs as they are easier on the brain and eyes. I am with chloe, go for ADV, Geneon, or Bandai. I like dubbs but not when they try and translate the songs too :mutter: Sub the songs dub the dialog. I love the way you can have both audio tracks on dvds.

So anyway you can have my name too as I always like it when good anime's make there way over here.

BTW: Don't get down, I feel I am one of the few people that prefere the dubs.

No no! Koko-chan doesn't have a petition for this particular issue. It's about something else. I was just aying you could ask her how she set up her petition and you could do it to. I'll sign!!

Count me in. After all, if you don't like the dub, don't they usually put subbed and dubbed versions on the same DVD? ^^

Definately count me in! While I understand, and even sympathize a little, with those that want to keep the bad-dubbers away from Tanemura-sensei, I'd also LOVE to see her work released here (especially the manga!). Ink is right, they usually add the sub anyway, that doesn't bother me. So definately count me in!

Given that she seems to be a pretty popular shoujo mangaka, I'm mildly surprised that her works have not yet been licensed.
Well, the Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne manga has apparantly been licensed by CMX Manga actually.

In retrospect, I suppose it was quite harsh of me to say such things, and I suppose in my anger at the prospect of a Full Moon dub, I had forgotten that yes, DVDs do indeed have both languages on it usually.

Seeing an official release of the Full Moon manga would be nice too, so you can go ahead and add my name to the list, Kisa. ^^

OT, but only for a minnit.

kaemmerite wrote:I can't think of a single anime series where the English version of the songs were just as good.

The Ranma 1/2 OAV songs that they redid in English were pretty well done. Too bad they only did a couple of them (I imagine the cost was prohibitive; probably the reason why Hot Songs Contest will never appear on these shores in anything but Japanese).

I remember TokyoPop having this section on its website where people could suggest new titles for publication. I'm not sure if it's there anymore, but it's worth a look. =)
