Postby Sam*ron » Mon Jan 03, 2005 12:31 pm

Okay, who loves this show?

Me Kinkosami and Trinitron, have just finished watching it and it was a great show, we all loved it so much, I like didn't do anything else but watch Fruist Basket all day! ^^

So, what I want you guys to do is rate it. 1 - 5, and I will see if everyone else thinks the same way as I do. ^^

And then you say your favorite character. ^____^

Okay, I will start.

5

Yuki

Moved to the right forum, and I'm also a huge Furuba fanatic. It's a wonderful series and one of my favorites (suprising since it's not a tanemura piece XD) I definately give it a 5, and don't ask me to pick my favorite character...it's like, impossible.

Yeah I love the manga so much better

However since it is one of the veeeeeeeerrrrryy few anime that I can watch the dub of without screaming in agony (and actually enjoy), I'd give it a 4 ^^

I love Yuki too! Especially in the most recent manga volume. "I'll kidnap you." *insert squeal of joy* XD so cute~

I think Kyo/Kagura or even Kyo/Uo would be good couples. Kyo and Uo (isn't her name Arisa??) are always fighting, but I think they'd be a good couple. *hides before Kyo/Tohru fans kill me*

I've heard yaoi fans slash Momoji and Hatori together. XO!! That is so wrong *cries* TT_TT

I really enjoy this series. I give it a four - and my favourite character is Ayame (I have a thing for silver-haired bishounen.. *_*)
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Could someone give us noobs a description of this anime?

Someone on another MB recommended it, and the ANN review is somewhat vague.

There's always our ver own review: http://www.christiananime.net/reviews.php?display=24

Or, Mangafanatic gave it a lovely summary at this thread:
http://www.christiananime.net/showthread.php?t=15733

And it was mentioned fairly in depth here:
http://www.christiananime.net/showthread.php?t=13778

And finally, there's the massive thread on it here:

That is wrong. . . on so many levels.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. I love Fruits Basket! I'd say I'd give it a 5, since I haven't seen a lot of anime shows: it's really difficult to buy/find etc any in NZ. It's starting to become a little easier tho. My favourite character would be... Tohru. Yup, an obvious choice but bah. ;)
Also, since I love this anime, are there any others like it that anyone could recommend to me? Ones NOT all about fighting etc?

Oh, a 4.5, because nothing's perfect.

Favorite character-- maybe Hatori. He and Kyo are sorta tied. And Shigure's up there with the best of them, as is Tohru.

Tohru is MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

I have seen disks one and two and am on disk three. I haven't laughed like this at a anime in a while. Its hilarious. Tohru is definatly the highlight. The more I watch of her the more I am so impressed. As Ashley said earlier if Tohru was real she'd be christian, I have to agree. She is great...and cute. I bought this without much knowledge of the series and I am now a fan. Thanks to all who recomended it. It was a good buy.

I'm totally gravedigging, but....

5!!! I liked it!!

Anyway, my fave character is Hatori (the doctor). Although I really liked Tohru, too. It's usually really hard to suit me with female characters, but I just liked her more and more as the series went on. She's good.

I actually see a little bit of myself in her, but then... I think I can see a little bit of most of the characters in the show in myself... except Ayame the snake. I can't stand him!

So, okay, where should I start reading the manga, so that it will pick up where the show ended? Or are they so different that it won't work?

Personally, I suggest you read it all. As Kae will no doubt come in and reiterate ( ;) ), I story telling is so much more complete. Plus, there's alot more in the manga than there is in the anime and the manga continues past where the anime ended. Read it! Woo-hoo!

Was anyone else sorta weirded out when...
Hatori said he made it hurt on purpose when he gave Shigure a shot. I mean, I like Hatori but that's weird. What happened to "first, do no harm?" I guess it wasn't *real* harm, and it *was* Shigure, but still. I wouldn't think doctors would be immune just because it was a childhood friend.
I think that the manga is far better then the anime, although i do love the anime. The one thing to warn you about is that the manga does become a little more adult then the anime. But still a wonderful story.

How much more adult are we talking about?

...The whole thing isn't out yet, according to the website that's releasing it. But it's pretty long, something like 14 vols, right?

That's a lot to buy.
But I like the characters so much from the anime, I might want to, eventually, get it all.

It's not too bad...Just some of the characters have adult relationships later on in the story.

I'm cought up to the latest chapters that are out in Japan, there is 18 volumes out in Japan so far the magizien Hana to Yumi is up to chapter 110. It was just released that there will be 22 volumes of FuruBa, so theres four more left.
