Pocket Monsters: What in between?

Postby Jeikobu » Sat Dec 25, 2004 7:18 pm

Thursday after next in Japan, Satoshi will face Ardan, the last of the eight Hoenn Gym Leaders. Then it's off to the Hoenn League, and Haruka should be competing in the Grand Festival I'm sure. After that, Hoenn's over, and it's off to a new region, as NDS games Diamond and Pearl are on their way. Problem is, they won't even hit Japan for 11 more months. So what will they do in between? With all that time they couldn't possibly use it all for Hoenn. There isn't enough left to do. My guess is another side adventure like the Orange Islands. IMO, it would be cool if Satoshi-tachi returned to Kanto and visited the island chain from the FireRed and LeafGreen games. There is the issue of no Gyms or Contests, but I'm sure the writers could think of something. What are your thoughts?

They don't run re-runs in japan, or at least not like they do here in America. In Japan they show one new episode every week. It would be nice if they did do another filler saga like Orange (I think Orange was the best segementn of the whole series) but don't underestimate the writers ability to stretch things out. The Hoenn league should at least last about 10 episodes, and the Grand Festival should take awhile too, And Haruka hasn't even won her 5th ribbon yet. With the 5th ribbon, both competitions, plus whatever filler they come up with, I wouldn't be surprised if it take them until the fall to finish Hoenn

It's like you said, they usually run 1 new episode every week. They do run reruns of popular series and it usually goes something like:

26 episdoes : 1 episode a week. Usually takes half a year to finish. Second half of the year they rerun it; if popular.

They don't run reruns? I have a friend in Japan who said they're still running DBZ, though...

I can't believe Pocket Monsters is still popular... America corrupted Nintendo... ^_^

I didn't mean to say yes to that part of his statement, sorry.

Yes they do if the show was popular (and DBZ was popular).

Yeah, I guess you do have a good point there.

Oh... I get it... That's a problem with the forums software, huh? If you hide a thread, it still shows up in the main forums page... That sucks...

In any case...

Pocket Monsters (the game) was revolutionary... in 1995! It's almost ten years old now... I think it should die peacefully. Just my opinion.

Pocket Monsters still has plenty left to give. And with its popularity in Nihon (Japan), why stop it? Things like Star Wars, Marvel Comics, etc. have been around a whole lot longer and are still very popular. Pokemon's destined to join them! ^^

Yeah, the games are Pokemon's bread and butter, along with the anime. They always sell well, and with good reason. They are alot of fun and very addictive and time consuming. I can't wait until Diamond and Pearl come out (it'll be a while but it'll be great when it comes). Until then we have Emerald coming in the US, which should be sugoi. ^^

Artistically, being popular isn't a reason to keep something going... Of course, no one said Nintendo and Co. were artists. I both understand it and loathe it... Oh well, one more black mark on the dairy print that is Japanese culture... Ok, so there are a couple purple spots too, what can I say?

Hmm... Susanne has influenced me... *shock*
