sounds like you guys have been busy, i'm still collecting my Dark Angels so i haven't played alot, man am just after having a 3 hour game of Dawn of War, me and 2 of my friends having a massive 3 way brawl, all as space marines, we couldnt take each other out or get the objectives because every time we got close the others would gang up on the one close to winning!

Eldar heroes? Sounds like the Phoenix Lords. Some of them are monsters (Fuegan) others (Maugan-Ra) are just naff....

For all Eldar players who use Maugan-Ra. I've been thinking up a rules modification for him to try and improve him and I'd like some play-testing.

Keep him just as he is, remove Crushing Blow skill and replace it with this

Vigilance
An Exarch with this skill may move and shoot with heavy weapons on the same turn

I haven't come up with points or anything yet, so just keep Maugan-Ra's points the same. I'd really like to know how his power shifts with it.

Any takers?

I'm possibly going to jump into this game as Tau, if I can afford it. We'll see how much of an army I can amass...

Excellent choice...my army is also the Tau, so let me know how it goes :thumb: .

I don't know how much advice I can offer (after all, I wouldn't want to give away any secrets to the enemy  ), but keep in mind the strengths and weaknesses of your army as you build it ;) .

Ah I see, that's interesting.

For the Tau...I'd recommend the battleforce or the boxed army (if you can find one) as a good starting point. :thumb:

I would recommend starting with a Commander/Ethereal, along with a few squads of Fire Warriors. That way you can start playing games right away as you build the rest of your army. From there, you can add to it as you like.

LOL@Mechana!

Those ships are beautiful, but they're mainly for either serious modellers or serious collectors, not a beginner ;)

My advice for starting is a commader and 2 boxes of Fire Warriors and possibly one basic transport (can't remember it's name, I don't play Tau after all)

After you have that built and painted, get a few of the Crisis battlesuits. That's generally a basic army and a good starting point.

:shady: I was joking about the huge ships.

If I really do this I will start with some simpler (and cheaper) models... I'm not an inexperienced modeler, since I used to do planes and other models. All I really need to remember is how my darn airbrush works. I was thinking of starting with either a single crisis suit or a small group of fire warriors, whatever is availiable, see how long the modeling and painting takes then go from there building a small army of Tau, Kroot and human aux. A hammerhead would be nice, but not straight off the bat.

I remember playing the original Warhammer (medieval type setting), and I was the woodelves. As a kid with no money, I didn't get very far. I have the dawn of war game now, which rocks, but since world of warcraft is out now, well, lets just say my dawn of war cd is collecting dust ;).

I agree with Skynes and Cbwing0, starting with Fire Warriors and a regular Commander and follow it with a Devilfish APC and Crisis Suits. I'd advise against getting an Etheral unless you have 1,500 points.

In a "standard" game you have to have 2 troop slots and 1 HQ slot filled, so anyways so those are compulserary (2 units of Fire Warriors and a Commander). Good luck on building your army.

I knew u were joking Mechana, hence the LOL@Mechana ;)

I think you can actually get a pack consiting of some fire warriors with a devil fish (is that the transport name?). It may be good to start with.

Another thing, ignore any eejit that says you cant airbrush GW models. You can. Just letting you know before some little kid tells you otherwise :P GW likes you using only their paint and their brushes etc.

Cant just let 40K sit idle,

Have any of you gotten a chance to play "WH40K, Dawn of War?" The PC game.

I have read lots of good things about it, but I was looking for some additional feedback if you have played it. ;)

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Dawn of war is great, the resource & objectives system is really well done, meaning you don't have your traditional command and conquer style strtegy game style, where resources dominate the game.

I haven't played DoW in over a month...though typically, I play with the Space Marines or Orks.

Iron Warriors are very cool. For a Traitor Legion army, the background of being siege experts appeals to me greatly. I also like the Night Lords as well.

Never played LOTR...but would like to give it a try when given the chance.

Has anyone been able to pick up the newest White Dwarf? I heard something about there being a rule on "Marines in the Movies." In other words, a full army vs. a squad of Marines, and having the fight be equal or the Marines coming out on top. I've been wondering what that was about.

Sorry, don't know about this film with marines in it.

I liked the Iron Warriors seige aspect too, it was that and their black n yellow stripes colour scheme that attracted me to them. They need more seige aspect rules though. Maybe a Vindicator that shoots longer range or something. Access to a Basilisk perhaps.

I think Razgriz was talking about the rules to make a squad of 'action hero' (or movie star) like Space Marines. Kind of like in movies (or video games) where one or two characters take on an army of baddies and still win.

I have not read anything about it before, but the concept sounds fun. Kind of like a small army of independent characters.

Here's a pic of my new rhino. It was a whirlwind, but I used the pieces to build a Rhino instead, I have plans for the missile launcher though ;)

Keep an eye on this bad boy. It's going to join the Orks very very soon.
