Napoleon Dynamite!

Postby Joshua Christopher » Fri Dec 17, 2004 6:00 pm

Has anyone seen this? I watched it, hated it, then understood it.
One of the best films I've ever watched. It's sooooo weird, and has absolutely no plot at all.
It's pretty much just about a kid named Napoleon Dynamite (His real name is never revealed).
Really deadpan humour. Only if you 'get it'. I highly suggest, and the DVD drops on December 21st. It contains no objectionable content at all.

I never really was interested in it. It just looked rather obnoxious. *shrug* I might check it out at some point.

"Gosh!" This is like one of my favorite movies ever. Heck, it just may be my favorite movie ever. Sure, it's really odd, and it has no story, but it's just... "Sweet!" It's hilarious. I saw it twice in the theatre and it's now on my Christmas list. It's definately not for everyone, though. Check it out though. I didn't find any offensive material to speak of either. And there's so many random funny lines that'll stick in your mind. Truly a great film.

Oh my GOSH I loved the movie! Lets just say the plot is fairly simple yet the story hits hard. It's one of the cleanest comedies I've ever seen. To be honest I wasn't expecting much before seeing it, but after the movie I was very impressed. I would highly recommend it to anyone..
I highly suggest, and the DVD drops on December 21st.

Yes, I will be buying it. I was actually thinking today, "when the heck is that movie going to be released?" I'm so glad to see it's this month.

If anyone is interested the official web site is: http://www2.foxsearchlight.com/napoleondynamite/
They have some random film clips from the movie... Check it out..

I actually had a chance to rent it last weekend. My friend works at a video store, so it is perfectly acceptable for her to "preview" videos before they officially come out. Man, that movie is awesome. It's definitly on my top ten now.

Release day!
I'm picking this title up today. Can't wait to see the second ending. I went to go see it in the theatres before the second one was added. Though my brother has already told me what happens. None the less, I will enjoy it all the more. :P

Get this... Napoleon Dynamite is sold out almost everywhere. Good thing I woke up ealier to get copy :P. ANyways, I went into work today (bestbuy) and everyone was asking if we had the movie. We sold out of all 500+ (or more) copies by 2pm or so. Also, Circuit City, wal-mart and target were all sold out. Looks like it's far more popular than I thought... Go figure. Can't deny the results :P JK

I wanna see it soooooooo bad...
I know what it's like to be a dork/nerd. Was in high school. Everyone sat at the "cool" table while me and my friends sat at the opposite side of the yard. You'd be amazed how the littlest things become hysterical without much effort. If this movie is anything like those "table" sessions, i'm sure it's a blast.

I saw napoleon during the fall and it was pretty good. It took a little getting used to for me. I wasn't in the right mindset at first and it totally seemed really lame for the first little bit of the movie. The humor is different than most comedies, which is good because it wasn't crude. I'm gonna have to see it again sometime.

9 times? Really? Sweet! I saw it twice... Anyways, I hope I get this movie for Christmas. Maybe I won't if it's sold out everywhere like agasfas said. I'm glad the movie is getting the recognition it deserves. It's flippin' sweet!

The other ending was great! Unfortunately, they only played it the first time I saw the movie. The song was funny. "How I love technology... But not as much as you, you see... But I still love technology... Always and forever..."

Yeah, very popular... Sold out everywhere (that I know of) here in Austin and San Marcos. You said it TrigunX89, it's so good to see this movie the recognition it deserves.
Yeah, the second ending was great. Wish I could have seen it in the theatres, I only saw it once. When I brother told me about it I couldn't believe it. I really thought he was just joking. Guess again :P
Great movie...

I've seen the movie numerous times, it's absolutely hillarious. I know, back in my high school days there was a person just like Napolean...so much to where its actually quite scary.

The scene with the tater tots is funny and Napoleans' uncle adds some extra funniness to the movie. His dance at the end was most certainly groovy...hehehe. I'm definately buying it. Yes! Hahaha I love when he says that.

Actually about cleanliness this isn't entirely true, I got this from Kids In Mind...

A man tries to sell an herbal product that claims to enhance women's breast size.

5 scatological terms, 12 mild obscenities.

A man shoots his cow in the face at close range (we see the man holding the shotgun, then hear the shot),

Two young men talk about "hookin' up with chicks."

Five young women wearing short skirts that reveal bare legs dance on a stage. A woman wears a low-cut dress that reveals cleavage, and young women wear evening gowns that reveal bare shoulders and backs.

I wouldn't call a movie like that perfectly clean...
Heart of Sword's Rhapsody

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!

:shady:

Oh, come ON. Jasmine wore a dress in Aladdin that revealed bare shoulders. For that matter, Ariel in The Little Mermaid wore little more than two seashells on her chest, revealing cleavage, back, shoulders, etc., but it was rated G.

I hardly think that last one should be admitted as reasons why the movie isn't perfectly clean; however, the other arguments remain valid.

And for the record, I loved the movie.

I don't personally have a problem with the quote you repeated Kaemmerite, but I know men who do.

Also shoulders is considered suggestive by a lot of people.

People in my video class rave about this film, so I guess I should see what the commotion is about. I'm very behind when it comes to films that I've seen
(which is very pathetic for someone like me who is a film/theater major).
