AnimEigo Discontinues Macross

As reported on ANN.

AnimEigo has announced that, as of December 31st, it will no longer sell nor distribute any copies of the Macross TV series.

What is up with that... Did toei own macross as well as Sailormoon? Are they affraid of bad publicity from released an "American unfriendly" version of Macross in the US? This news is s bit troublesome... If it is Toei that owns Macross, someone needs to slap them... Seriously...

Actually, AnimEigo does that a lot. You can't buy the old Urusei Yatsura box sets from them anymore, for example. They have some very strange policies on production and inventory.

Those of you who like the original Macross, get the AnimEigo version while it lasts. It is probably the best video transfer and clean up job I've ever seen, far better than Robotech Remastered (see my rant in the Robotech thread).

o.O is that why Hot Topic had those miniDVDs on clearance for like 3.99 a piece? dangit...having no money is not cool. I should have bought them all >_<

Well, I guess I am lucky then. I found the Macross boxes on sale not too long ago and bought them all.

I just got all three box sets and I am gald I did they were much better then robotech
