I watched it solely for the J-Pop. It was...disturbing, to say the least, but funny. The girl coming out of (Ami's?) chest was weird. Reminded me of FLCL...and that's not good.

What's it about?
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Two Jpop singers, Ami and Yumi (Obviously) who for some reason have their own cartoon. As far as I can tell, the group name is Hi Hi Puffy.

It's a show "about" the group Puffy AmiYumi running around the world \ and getting into goofy situations. I say "about" and not "staring" becasue they only show up in some brief footage at the beginning and end. Aside from the songs, all their voices are done by American actors.

I liked the show, though probobly not for the reasons that the creators would want. The general corniness of the whole thing (extreme lack of involvment by the band, extreme lack of resemblance to the band, unsuccesful attempts at writing hip lines, totally random bits of basic Japanese thrown around) meant it was really up my alley. (actually, it sort of reminds me of the old Beatles cartoons that ABC did in the '60s) Besides, it has Puffy AmiYumi music in it!

By the way, I think the "popping out of the chest" thing was supposed to be a parody of Alien

Was it me or did the VAs for Ami and Yumi sound like the same ones that do Starfire and Raven in Teen Titans. I got a few laughs out of it (mostly in regard to things dealing with their manager). However, I was somewhat disappointed. I thought my daughter might like it, but she left the room about halfway through the first half hour.

Yeah, it's the same bunch.

As far as I can tell, the group name is Hi Hi Puffy.

They started ut on '96 as "Puffy," but then P. Diddy sued them, so the stuck "AmiYumi" on the end. As far as I know, ?Hi Hi" is just a part of the show's name.

I liked it a lot, just because it was funny in a sorta nonsensical way. I especially liked the last one with the ninjas. I wish I could learn to be a ninja taht fast! Ha ha!

I saw 5 minutes of it while I was going through a commercial for the show I was really watching. (Hmm...that made no sense). It looked really cute, and I thought it was sort of amusing when that crazy fangirl chased after that manager guy.

But then again...too much cuteness can give one a stomach-ache. =]

The terrifying moldy bread incident! In elementary school, Yomi's leftover bread started rotting inside her desk! you can't imagine what happened! Not only that, but the mold had a will of its own, it was terrible! Barricading ourselves in the science prep room, we used spirit lamps and engaged in combat! Then I realized it!! If we only had the bottle of mildew remover from the bathroom, we could destroy them!!

I saw the theme song while channel surfing.

Unless you tied me to a chair and forced my eyes open there is no way I would ever watch that show.

This coming from a guy who likes Sailor Moon and Power Rangers...yes, I admit it. OLD SCHOOL Power Rangers, though. I stopped watching when they turned into little kids and the aliens took over.

But I agree with Destroyer 2000 on this one. Even though they aren't even really IN it, I'm tired of seeing pop stars being given television shows or movies simply because they're famous. It sickens me.

...Is it really even anime? I mean it's got J-pop, but it's not really traditional anime, more like American copies*coughTeenTitanscough*...

So Teen Titans copied anime. I'm glad they did. It improved the quality of the show. ^_^

No, HHPAY is not anime.

I missed it because of Dad's birthday, was it good?

Well, it's hardly a work of art or anything, but IS a relitavely fun way to waste 30 minutes, and that's really the only point, right?

Oh, and for the record, I was looking around and found out that the voices of Ami and Yumi actually AREN'T done by the Teen Titans people after all! Their voices are Grey DeLisle and Janice Kawaye, while Raven and Starefire are done by Tara Strong and Hyden Walch. Could have (and, in fact, did) fooled me...

My sister is obsessed with it. She runs around screaming "J-POP IS TAKING OVER THE WORLD!!!!" and draws fan-art for the show.

Personally, I thought it was annoying but somewhat funny and had a few anime-community-related jokes.

I must have a perverted mind or something, because no one seemed to notice...but isn't it a little wierd that their manager LIVES with them? .____.

I dunno. Let's just say there's not alot to chew on here. ^^;; It's like they wrote a story-board and whittled away at it until nothing was left. Giant eyes and girl power...but what else can you expect from J-pop?
It's goofy enough...
I just thought it was kinda funny that neither of them actually play an instrument, from what I've seen  And there's not much in the way of lyrics...I'm just hoping it doesn't get my sister into some weirder stuff. o_O She's on google alot so I'm REALLY afraid for her...

So yup. That's my take on it.

I tried watching this show (It was on adult swim between to shows I like), but I could hear my braincells committing suicide, so I had to stop.
