The best series?...

Postby Muopii » Wed Nov 24, 2004 12:27 pm

Hey everybody!
I really enjoy watching anime series a lot more than anime movies. They are so much more involving.
Anyway, whenever I see a show on TV, however, it is usually already halfway through the sreies an I have no idea what's going on.
So, I thought that I would buy a box set of a series. And since I have'nt seen a whole lot of anime, i wanted to ask everybody what, in their opinion, is the best anime series.
Thanks for you thoughts! :P

Escaflowne, Gundam Wing, Witch Hunter Robin for anime that are in a box sets.

Gundam 08th MS team and Gundam 0080 are good, but they don't come in a box set. But since they are OVA's, its really bad about getting them all at one time if you can do that.

Wolf's Rain is another, but they don't have a full box set out for it.

Yeah, tell me about it...but I've got it all!

Personally, my two favorite series are Fushigi Yugi (THREE box sets, plus the Eikoden DVD) as well as Ai Yori Aoshi, which is not available in a box set. It's five DVDs long...if you don't count the Enishi episodes.

This is followed closely by Ranma 1/2...which is SEVEN box sets long, plus the OAV box set, and the two movies. Better start saving! Mahoromatic also ties with Ranma as an excellent series, it's seven DVDs, also not in a box set.

Guess I wasn't much help, was I?

Maison Ikkoku has to be my favorite. It's closely followed by Ranma 1/2, Kimagure Orange Road and Azumanga Daioh.

as it has been said, there are so many good series. My personal favorite is gundam 08th ms team. but i would also have to recommend trigun, scryed, witch hunter robin, which has been said, naruto, cowboy bebop, and if violence does not bother you, berserk and gungrave. Overall, the best anime series i have seen though, would proabably be 08th ms team. if yo had to buy it, gundam 08th MS team is only 4 dvd's long. hope this helps!

^_^; Right now my vote would go to Matantei Loki Ragnarok or Tactics, but unfortunately neither of those have been released in the US yet.

If you want a box set, I'd definitely reccomend Trigun, Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop (not sure if there's a box for this one or not. o.o; ), .hack//SIGN, and Witch Hunter Robin.

How old are you and what are your interests? That might give us a better idea of appropriate titles to suggest.

Eirewolf makes a good point. While some of the titles above are high on my list, I cannot recommend some of them without a bit more information. For example, I would advise you to stay away from Ranma (one of my favorites) in the event you are under a certain age. The same goes for most takahashi (and clamp, for that matter), actually.

So, if you can provide more information about your interests/demographics, that would help us out. If you are unwilling to tell us your age (which I can totally understand and respect), we'll assume that we need to find titles appropriate for ANY AGE.

Help us out a little bit, please? Are you opposed to certain kinds of anime (witches, magic, robots, romantic comedy, etc).

Also, be sure to check out the "reviews" section of this site. We have lots of suggestions, complete with "age appropirateness" right on them.

Well, I am 13, And I most enjoy an anime with a fair amount of action, a good story, And great characters. Probably a fantasy, with some romance, good fight scenes, and great plot development.
The only things that I would oppose to are Sexually themed nudity, Sex scenes, And extreme bad religion.
Thanks so much for your suggestions. I hope this helps.
