Love Hina anime?

K, my friend recently lent me his Love Hina manga collection and I started to read it and I love it so far. Despite the fanservice (grumble grumble) I find it very fun to read (the fact I spent the entire day downing 5 volumes of it). I absolutely love it and I can connect with the character (defiently Keitaro )

However, is the anime a bit toned down or toned up on the fan service issue? I'm starting to just ignore the fan service in the manga and doens't bother me at all which is good. Thanks. My friend is planning on getting the anime set and will let em borrow it after he's done but I want to make sure first.

It's been a while since I've watched the anime, but I'm pretty sure there's less fanservice.

However, I personally didn't care for the anime. It was a little too...I don't know how to phrase it...cartoony. The manga was more realistic.

I'll give you an example. In the manga, Su appeared older in the light of the red moon. But she wasn't REALLY.

In the anime, Su is (in reality) a magical girl, who transforms into an older version of herself, and can control the hot-springs turtle. The anime also adds another character, Kentaro, an irritating rich-boy.

It's not the worst anime I've ever seen, but it's certainly worse than the manga, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

But don't let my opinion discourage you. See it and make your own judgements!

I didn't care for the extra characters, and the wildly implausible plots, but I found the anime more enjoyable and more... sedate. When I was reading the manga, I laughed of course, but at the same time I was saying, Dear Lord, why the hell am I reading this?

Well...I may try the anime. Like I said, I'm gonna borrow my friends collection as soon as he's done. I'm thoroughly enjyoing the manga. I can't seem to put it down. I I had to have my mom hide away the book bag the collection was in so I focus on my paper

I got to sneak a volume in today though. I was just wondering though how good the anime was.

I really want to try the Love Hina anime but Netflix really does need to get discs 4-6. :S

I bought the series on dvd and I regret doing so. The series was okay for about the first 15eps, then after that it became really repetitive and the plot became lame. It seemed as though nothing in this series got resolved. Plus the fan service was a bit much. A bit humorous, but then again, even that wore off. It just seems as though these kind of genre (one guy many girls) are becoming a nuisance. Nothing original. But hey, that's just my opinion.

Yeah, I actually just watched a few episodes of Love Hina. It was ok but the manga is much better I find. So I'm not sure if I want to get the anime...I might just get the Christmas Special which I found very fun to watch. I liked that alot.

But I'm defiently getting the manga.

I've seen all of the anime series, but I havn;t read the manga. One of my friends has all the graphic novels so I might borrow it from him. The Love Hina TV series and movies aren't that bad with the fanservice, but beware of Love Hina Again ^^. There is some stuff in those three episodes that I think pushes it into the R-rated range, while the show is usally just PG-13. Overall, I enjoyed the anime, and, personally, I liked the more cartoonish elements that popped up at times. I love parody shows and the cartoonishness of the anime often had that element to it. One of my favorite episodes was the one where they did the play of "Journey to the West" and Motoko and that scientist guy had a DBZ style fight.

I thought the anime had a lot of moments worth watching. Some really classic episodes there. The Son Goku episodes, the Mecha-Turtle culture (not in the manga), the video game episode. They were all classics.

I really like the Christiam special. That was herat warming. I just read the last book of Love Hina and I cried cause it was so beautiful!

[spoiler]Keitaro and Naru gets married (the wedding is held at the dorm) and you see all the friends astuff in the series plus a new girl that just joined the dorm. All the characters are grown up Su, Shinobu, and Motoko are students at Tokyo U as well.[/spoiler]

Well, it is fundamentally a fanservice show. I do have a soft spot for it, though, as I helped sub a few of the eps back in the day.

Umm... how does the manga not end the series? The commentary in the back of the last book says that the thing with the new girl (whose name I just can't remember) *was* going to be a spinoff, but got cancelled.

But yeah, the manga kicks the crap out of the anime. Besides, the manga actually gives you the whole series, whereas the anime gives you the basic, first part of the story as one arc, then the specials (I think there were 2), and then they make you buy Love Hina Again, which is really just the last 2 or 3 books in the series (the part where Kanako shows up). I wouldn't recommend buying the anime to anyone (I'm glad I didn't!) unless they could find it really cheap. Or maybe if you could rent it. The manga is just... so much better.

Yeah the anime is indeed quite funny, though I would agree that the manga contains certain nuances and things that make it funnier at parts where the anime sometimes is "incomplete" or falls short. Though, in regards to fanservice, the anime is much more modest for the most part (for example the bath scenes show the girls wearing towels usually where the manga doesn't). To put it more simplistically, the anime is rated 13+ (except for the Love Hina Again movie), whereas the manga is 16+. Hope this helps somewhat!
