yay for being new!

hello all! just thought i'd say hi and introduce myself. my name is tatianna, and i really don't get along with computers, so this is all new to me. i am a manga/anime fan though (of course). really i haven't seen or read hardly any of it, but the small amount that i have experienced has got me interested near the point of obsession. (man, i really hate talking about myself). hmmmm, i am a christian artist, and though i don't have much confidence in my abilities, i do believe that God gave them to me for a reason, it is my goal to honor God with my talents. . . which is often easier said than done.

as i said, i have a sort of 'love hate' relationship with computers right now, that's probably because i don't know hardly a thing about them. (it's only a little ironic that i'm going to school next fall to take a multimedia course! ha!).

hmmmmm, about me. ummm. . . i like asians, and cheese, and the smell of paint. . . i like to throw random objects when there's no one looking. oh! and it's one of my life long goals to learn to speak klingon. . . .just because, i mean hey, what's weirder than speaking klingon? yeah, that's an interesting mix. . . . .i don't like it when people leave the lid on the toilet seat open (i tend to drop things easily), or forgetting things when am in the middle of saying them or trying to do stuff on the internet and you can't because your computer is so dang slow! yeah, i could go on, but i won't. (warning: i don't talk alot, but when i do, it's usually really random and weird and people aren't usually able to follow what i'm saying (including myself)). . . . . um, yeah, i really don't know what else to say! so, guess that's it. javascript:smilie(':sweat:')

hmmmm, i must admit i am extremeley ignorant when it comes to alot of anime/manga stuff and computer stuff, which means that i would totaly need some guidance with an avatar. hmmm, and i do like jazz, but i can't say that i would even be able to name any spedific musicians or anything, as far as music goes, i like most of what i hear (except country), provided it's not profane or dirty or anything. . . and yes, i absoluteley love working with clay, though i'm not super talented with it. and never could make paint do what i wanted it to do. hmmm, well pencil and ink will have to do for now i guess!

I'm doing a lot more painting than I'd otherwise probably get around to as a result of doing school art but I do quite enjoy it, and I love clay as well. It's fun pulling it into random shapes - though I was able to work with some nice, rough, gritty stuff once that I've been looking for ever since .

Whoa - you work in ink? Cool. I have got to try that sometime. I'm a little bit afraid, though - every time I paint my hands are covered in blue afterward - (I'm partial to a lot of finger-painting-blending on sky, sea etc.) so what would I look like when I mess around with india ink?! Even when I'm only doing little details in paint I somehow manage to get it on my nose and ear and little toe.... I might have to be wise and know what media I shouldn't tackle alone .

The smell of paint isn't too bad, but it brings memories of the day I helped paint my sister's room orange... And my dog rubbed against the wall... And he was light orange for quite some time.

ha! that's so me! i have to make sure i am not going out anywhere after i work with ink, just incase. i'm really bad with charcoal and pastel too, it gets EVERYWHERE!

I absolutely agree about the charcoal and pastel - I've got a set of old clothes that I use for painting and anything where I've got a reasonable chance of becoming an artwork myself... which definitely includes working with charcoal and pastel. They've got black speckles on them, the trousers are missing a zipper so they've got to be safetypinned and I also use them when I'm out on the farm and it's particularly muddy.

Still, you find it fun working with ink, right? So do you work with coloured inks or use it to make linework or just straight out work with it without preparation? I haven't worked with it before but I'm interested in how you'd do it (if you don't mind me asking) because I get interested by media I haven't worked with.

i haven't used ink in awhile. i had some really nice pens i got for cheap somewhere that were suprisingly really good, and then they died on me. i haven't been able to find them again, i don't even know what they were called. i have used the quill pens that you have to dip into ink. i was having alot of fun with that, and then i dropped my best one on the floor, and it landed on the tip, and broke . Grrr! anyway, i have yet to replenish my supplies. i really do preffer working with pencil, and everything i do is really sketchy. i like it that way, but . . . . clean lines are the way to go i guess, ha! but yeah, i guess i'm still trying to develop my own style. as far as preparation goes, um. . . .well it really just depends on my mood. i guess if i want to have a clean pic when i'm done, i'll sketch it out first in pencil. . . . ha, but yeah, i really need to finish most of my stuff. anyway, i'll be going now. bye!

Whoa - that's awesome. I haven't used those before. I managed to use straw with some india ink for a grand total of about 8 minutes... but that's it for me! I think my Mum might have some india ink and perhaps a paintbrush that I could experiment with - I'll have to ask her.

Eek - you managed to break a quill pen? Breaking art supplies is gut-wrenching at times. Losing them, too. Though it's by far not as sad, I managed to lose my mechanical pencil (which I draw the most with) and haven't replaced it yet.

I agree - I kind of like the pencil sketchy look. Especially when I'm doing cartoons (like my avatar) and do the basic shapes really light then the outline thick but you can still see the sketch underneath... it looks cool somehow. I'm like you - I've got unfinished pictures lying all around the place. I suppose it's either a sign of creativity or procrastination... maybe both. .

All the best for your continued drawing and inking . I hop you manage to replace that quill brush and that you keep enjoying art - that's the main thing, isn't it?
