New Zealand Girl

Postby CreatureArt » Sun Oct 24, 2004 1:31 pm

We-ell... I'm hoping you guys know where New Zealand is and WHAT it is (which isn't an island off the coast of Australia, it's actually a separate country... ;) )...

But that's where I'm from. We don't really have that much anime or manga over here (though we do, it just isn't as prevalent as in larger countries and can be hard to get hold of) - but I'm starting to get into it, especially Trigun  :) .

I'm a twin (and getting my sister into Trigun as well  ), and I love to draw and sing. I'm not the best artist but I enjoy it so I don't worry tooooo much about my skill level :) . I'm also starting to write songs (doing piano for a couple of years really helps, heh), especially praise ones. For those who know a little about music, I seem to be using the A minor, D major and F major chords a lot.

Anyway, when I decided to get a bit more into anime I wanted to get a good Christian perspective on it, so I searched Google for Christian+Anime - and guess what site came up first? :thumb: :) . I read some of the reviews and liked the sound of Trigun and Fruits Basket - so I took a look and really enjoyed them.

So... anyway, I guess that's my little n00b introduction thing. Hope you enjoyed and didn't get eye-strain from all the writing. I tend to do long posts sometimes ;) .

I love the fact that there's a Christian anime community online. It's really encouraging, and an awesome thing.

God Bless.

Nope, haven't really been to any of the LotR exhibits or anything, lol. Seen the movies and some of the armour - but otherwise I haven't really travelled around the spots, sorry.

Everyone in NZ tends to be proud of the LotR filming though - there's location guidebooks and all that sort of thing all around the place. So if you ever visit NZ you should check one out ^_^.

Thanks so much for the welcome. ^_^

Hi and welcome, CreatureArt! ^____^ I have to agree with Sunako and say "I love your avatar."

YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Domo arigatou for the welcome, Zero One! (and for your compliment upon my humble avatar :) .

I wish I were closer to the States and Aus because then I'd have more access to anime and manga and I'd get to go to cool anime conventions like Oni-con! Luckily, there is something like that here in NZ - we've got Armageddon, which is a 'pulp culture' expo. There's anime there, too though - but I wasn't able to get there this year! :waah!: . It was a bit of a bummer because I'd got a decent picture done for the art competition - but I'll just do a better one for next year! :)

Hmmm... you reckon I could throw a rope over and we could tow NZ nearer to the States...? ]main islands... and many, many small little volcanic ones (there's about 50 in Auckland alone... but most are dormant or extinct with a few exceptions like White Island which is active and smokes all the time - but that's out at sea and isn't dangerous at all :) .

God bless!

Woot! TRIGUN!!!! :) .
I like that show. Just seen the first two episodes (subbed) so far - and it's awesome. Such a great sense of humour! IT's only the second/third anime I've ever watched :shameful admittance: but I'll do better soon, I tell you! ;) .

Yes, NZ is nuclear free... probably mostly because if one of those plants blew up - :boom!: - NZ wouldn't be around anymore, except as debris floating around the pacific and bumping into boats... and of course one solitary girl on a plank of radiated wood drifting over to Fiji, singing and thoroughly enjoying herself ;) . We're supposed to be GE free as well - but our government wants to $$cash$$ in on it to make more $$ or something... which is kind of sad.

Arigatou for the welcome. Everyone here is so friendly. Christians make the best company. :D .

God bless.

I'm pretty sure Hajimashite means: 'Pleased to meet you' and 'domo arigatou' or 'arigatou gozaimasu' or even 'arigatou' mean thank you. Kon n nichi ha (last word pronounced 'wa' but written as 'ha' in Japanese, I think) means good afternoon, or hello.

Hope that helps - and I also hope I'm accurate!

God bless.

Thanks, C.T. Girl! - Sorry it took so long to get back to you, I was online but had to feed the chickens (yes, I have three of the things :D ) and had to eat. :P

Thank you for your complimentation of my avatar! The character is one of my own - Tcalix (yes, his name was in part given to confuse people ;) ta-cal-icks) and he's all over my study notes so that when I lose them sometimes they find their way back to me even without a name on!

Hopefully I'll see you online again and I'll challenge you to a game.
