The first one I watched(if this counts) is pokemon, way back in 1999 or 2000. I didn't even know it was anime(duh)

Normally I would have said Superbook back when I was 4 or 5, but then I rememberd the other day that my very first anime was Unico. (I never forgot the ending o.O)

Actually, many of you may have seen anime ealier than you think. Don't forget about Littl' Bits, or Grimm's Fairy Tales that used to air on Nickelodeon.

:wow!:

THAT was anime?! Wow! If you hadn't said that, I probably would have ended up saying Voltron or Robotech...but I guess those ones you said would be the first ones I watched.

The first anime I saw (that I KNEW was anime) was actually Sailor Moon when they showed it on Fox once upon a time...I liked it then...little did I know that after watching Sailor Moon S fansubbed I'd grow to hate and despise the dubbed version DiC put out (BOO DiC!).

I seen quite a few shows a few years back but I never registered those to be anime. I think the first anime that I recognized as anime was Sailor Moon/ DBZ.

But my first serious anime (serious as in when I was really into anime) was Kikaider. Then Big O. Then Furi Kuri (I'm using the Japanese title! ) Then Trigun. I haven't seen any other animes since Trigun.

I'd say it was probably Pokemon or perhaps Digimon (which is the first anime I really liked)
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I think the first anime I ever saw was actually a Christian anime called Superbook. Ever seen it? It's kinda weird...but wasn't too bad. I think it had bad dubbing, though. XD It's been years since I've seen it.
The first anime i really watched regularly was Digimon, though. However, by then, through Sonic the Hedgehog and Pokemon, as well as knowing about Sailor Moon and Gundam Wing, I knew what anime was by that point.

Gundam Wing.

The episode was the one where Zechs and Heero are fighting in the frozen wasteland with Relena looking on.

My first Anime happen to be Doraemon one of the belove children's anime which the story is about "A cat-type robot created on September 3, 2112, Doraemon travels back in time with the great-great-grandchild of Japanese schoolboy, Nobita, to save Nobita from the bad luck he creates for himself and his future descendants! Although he always means well, usually the gadgets that Doraemon pulls from the "4-D (Fourth-Dimensional) Pocket" on his tummy only make things worse.

Technically sent back as a protector, Doraemon is actually more like a best friend. Crippled by a paralyzing fear of mice, dorayaki (bean-filled jam cake) is his favorite food." which still running today the total eps count is about 2000.

I didn't know what anime was at the time, but my first one was Astro Boy. Watched it back in the '60s. I remember them opening his chest and fixing some gears or something. Scared the heck out of me.

My first "I know this is anime" anime was Fushigi Yugi.

do anime movies count? 'cus i remember watching one called "The last Unicorn" that was definitely anime, although it was a little more in the 80's anime style, and of course i saw voltron when it was shown on the USA network on sunday mornings, also thundercats and silverhawks were on my 'to see' list way back when i was like 4. once those went off the air i didn't really watch any anime until cartoon network started to show dbz on toonami, after that, i got way back into anime with a vengeance :thumb:

My first anime? Well, I used to watch Voltron, Thundercats, and Cities of Gold way back when.

But the first anime that I actually went to the store and rented was Bubble Gun Crisis 2040. The nice guy who worked there said it would be a good place for some one who has seen only a little anime to start. I watched the whole series, it was ok.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Technically, I think my first anime was Samurai Pizza Cats but I didn't know it was anime and the only time I got to watch was when I didn't have to go to school. So in light of that, I would say that my first anime that I really got to watch was the NA Edit of Sailor Moon (like probably half of the US folk on this site).

InuYasha. It was my sister's fault. Soon I was watching the anime that was airing before InuYasha at the time, Kikaider, and it was up-hill from there. ;) I came to college that fall and met other dorks like myself. :D
