 I do really enjoy Last Exile And am very glad I was able to help the CAA by writing thhis review.

Well, I have watched te Series again since writing this review and have a few minor corrections to make.

-Sub vs. Dub: It has come to my attention that the subed version that I watched is not the official one and is probably a bootleg. Having seen a little of the official sub I can tell you that it is very well translated, and is prbably equal to the dub. However, to my knoledge the offial version has not been released in america yet. All in all I would still go with the dub, but it is so close that it is really a matter of personal preference.

-Bad Religion: I gave Last exile a 3 in this category but I now think it warrents prabaly a 1 or 2 at the most. The cross graphity wasn't with symbols of other religions at all as I had previously stated.

-Sexual content: I probably rated this category too high as well, out of caution. Only the most cautious and strict of viewers will have a proble mwith this anime.

I hope these comments help. I highly suggest LastExile as a good solid series to watch.

I've been meaning to see this series for awhile now. It looks really good. I have heard nothing but good things about this one. One day, when I gather the money I need I'll purchase it. But until then I can only dream. Thanks for the review.

I don't know if you get G4TechTV cable channel in your area. If you do, they are showing a Last Exile Marathon on Christmas Day with all 26 episodes.

Nah, I don't get it. I believe here in austin you must have either digital cable or satellite. Neither I have. :( So that's kind of a bummer.

Tell them it's research for your popular ever growing website. I wonder sometimes if they realize they have someone famous living in their household. :thumb:

LOL! That's a great idea doc! Actually, no, none of my siblings/parents really know about CAA. I mean, my siblings know about it, but they aren't into anime (well ok, my sister thinks my jpop cds are cool but she has no desire to see anything). My parents know I have a website, and that that's where I met Shatterheart/Gypsy/Lightbringer but that's about it...so no, I'm not famous. XD

Wow, thanks for the info about the marathon, I hope i can see the last 6 episodes in englesh! I have seen the whole series but the last 6 episodes i only saw with subtitles. It is a great series, and the dub is fantastic. Episode 22 is my favorite so I want to see it with the Dub! If I can't see it on christmas, I will have to wait for Olorc to get it on DVD.

I saw most of this series during the marathon, and I now have plans to buy this series whenever I can get the money! (And I had never heard of it before few weeks ago, when Comcast added G4TechTV to regular cable.)

Just superb. I only wish that I could have stayed glued to the TV for the whole day, but I had to go to some of my relitives houses.

Very clean, for good anime at least. I agree that the ending could have been better, of course I hate endings anyway. Does anyone know of any plans for a sequel?

Hey, did anyone mention that G4TTV cuts out a few scenes?
in the last episode, G4TV cuts out the part where Claus and Lavi see Tatiana teaching pilots after the war settled. Then they continue to fly, and they see a man and a girl. It turns out that the man is Mullen, and the girl is his daughter. Meaning, Mullen survived~! ^__^ If you just watched the G4TTV version, it looks as though Mullen didn't survive...TT_TT
So, I would recommend the DVD's...well, maybe not. But the DVD's are pretty awesome. ^_^

Sounds like it was a cut-for-extra-commercial-time cut.

Oh, I can't stand it when they do that!!!

All the more reason to buy the series, but I need a MiniDV camera instead. (Almost all of my spending Christmas money's going to that. :( )

Oh, and they forgot to mention the little bit of nudity that was not cut by TechTV.

They could have played that part instead of playing that fancy credit part...*sigh* ah well. Maybe they did that so we had to buy the DVds to see it...xD

Yeah it disappoints me when they cut off little chunks at the ends of scenes for com. breaks. You can tell where they cut from the music. When its normal it kinda fades, when they cut it suddenly changes. If they had less commercial breaks they could play more.. oh well I suppose they have to support themselves.

And definitely buy the DVDs! If you're too cheap to do that d/l fansubs, but definitely find a way hear the original Jap. and see the whole episodes somehow. (Hint: Buy the dvds don't d/l now that they're out ^^)

And no sequel I know of. The ending tied it up pretty well, even though its darn confusion @_@

How can you people watch something like Last Exile? It has a homosexual in it. When I found that out, I stopped watching. As christians, we shouldn't expose ourselves to things like that, because it can lead to us becoming like that...

For one thing, I don't think you're going to find a whole lot of things in this worlds society that are wholly conformable to Christian morals. Second, I never really thought of this character or took much note of him. His views were never made to appear normal or even right, and the other characters seemed to regard him as quite wierd as well.

Any way, I have my own questions about the ending. I just finished it yesterday, and I'm not sure I totally get what happened. What did Exile do at the end? How would Delphine getting it have ruined the world? Did Mullin survive the battle, or did Exile revive him somehow? Did anyone else find the ending with Dio anticlimatic?

Yeah, I must agree about the ending....it had some serious loose ends. I really liked the series up 'til then. It deserved a better ending.

As for homosexuality in the series, I really don't think it's true. Dio is a strange person, yes, as are all members of the Guild. He has no inhibtions towards showing 'affection' to people he likes, male or female. This is just part of what makes his personality creepy.

I don't think it's Dio. It's the mechanic with the pointy metal ears.

I thought Dio was weird, but not homosexual. Its called platonic love. I never picked up on the homosexual references with the mechanic, but that's good too know (if what you say even exists, chewster).
Anyway Last Exile is probably one of the cleaner anime out there that is good.

I tend to agree that it's not Dio but the Mechanic. At the same time I don't think that as Christians we should be affraid to watch something that has a homosexual in it. How are we supposed to be in the world but not of the world if the world will conform us with something as weak as a half hearted gay man in a cartoon from Japan? Also, if we are going to bring up the sin of homosexuality we should also talk about the fan service in almost all anime and also the frequent blood and gore. It says we are to dwell on things that are good. If you, chewy, feel that movies should not be watched because of this type of content...possibly you should consider how strict a standard you're really setting.

Dio is just eccentric because he was raised in extreme privilege. Eccentric does not equal homosexual.

Okay just bought the last volume and watched it. Awesome series. I loved the ending!
(How come it didn't have the Guild 'ninja star shaped' ships in the town like it has in the intro?) Also how is Mullin still alive at the end? I thought we saw him die? Anyway, great series. Highly recommended! My favourite volumes are probably 1, 4, 5 and 6.
